Fair enough. Personally I wouldn't care if it could go 1000 miles and cost $50k if it still looks the same. I wouldn't be caught dead in that hideous abomination of a vehicle.

Yeah, the CyberTruck isn't in the running for me at all. It's too big, it's too spartan on the interior for my tastes (same reason the Model 3 and Model Y are not in the running for us as a second car). Not to mention the exterior design... very much not my taste.

Porsche I've never really looked at (not sure why), I'm just assuming the price will be higher than what I'd be comfortable with.

Polestar is a great call out, the 3 looks interesting, but we have no details yet, so I'd put that in contention for my wife if an unveil and ordering kicks off this summer, but I think it will just be too late to replace the wife's car (I'm also concerned with the efficiency in general from the Volvo/Polestar group... it's one of the big hesitations on the XC40 recharge and why we only put down a refundable deposit on an order and didn't buy one outright yet).

cyber truck is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. Wouldn't drive that abomination if it was cheap and had a long range. Maybe Musk is a huge blade runner fan and thought it would be a good idea to reproduce the cars or he was extremely high when he approved the design. Either way there are not many options out there other than SUV's that all look the same and I don't wan't a car. If I am impressed with the Silverado I will reserve that. Other than that it's rivian

The CT isnt just hideous. It's ugly AND incredibly lazy. There are no design cues, there's no aesthetic at work. It's sloppy, stupid, childish design and Musk thinks (knows) his fanbois will just eat it up and pretend that it's genius.

Let’s assume CT hits 500 miles/70k. At those numbers, it may be able to win over people that are generally put off by its aesthetics. (??‍). If it comes in with numbers much more in line with Rivian, Ford, etc., so in the 325 mile/80k range, my guess is it will be a vehicle purely for die-hard Tesla fanboys.

At 500 miles, 70k, I would consider it. Under those numbers (or higher, for price) and I am probably writing it off as a non-option and waiting for the R1T.

I guess the biggest question is what happens if it comes in higher than Rivian, Ford, GM (say, 400 miles of range for 65k‘ish), but not in an overwhelming way. Then do its aesthetics still keep most people away? Probably, I would think.

My two cents.

At $65K 400 mile, I will probably stay with R1S. At $50K 320 mile, I will flip.

I am not too crazy about Tesla or CT’s look but I will sell my soul to the devil for a good deal. That said, realistically I don’t expect a good deal from Tesla unless it is pushed hard by the competition. Luckily, it looks like we are heading in that direction. When we will get there, your guess is as good as mine.

I agree with this. I think it is ugly. I am a R1S preorder holder, but would like to upgrade from my volt in a few years when my daughter starts driving. My wife gave me the go ahead to get a R1T Max pack. If cybertruck can tow 14k lbs and and get clos to 500 miles unladen, and for a similar price, I would strongly consider.

In reality, I don't believe that will be the case, so I will most likely be a two Rivian family ina. Few years.
