Surprise I installed it myself not him.

and gaps are very important or when your roof flexes you’re going to have rubbing.
But whatever you need to cry about I guess
LOL. There does not need to be a 1/2" gap on the bottom, it just looks silly and its all because his L bracket are poorly engineered... but if you like it then great. Looks like shit IMO.

I mean king of hammers just happened and it was two weeks long. I know there’s no phone service there and both ORR and weistec was there, I don’t think any manufacturing happens in the desert
Email auto responders are a thing, aren't they?

I can't speak for your situation but my dealings with Sam have been nothing but pleasant. He opened up his shop on a Saturday morning for me to install my rack and even lent me the tools. Communication aside I'm sure he's doing everything he can to remedy your issues.

I used some extra slide in studs supplied with the rack for my maxtrax.

Here are some of the other hardware I bought to mount stuff.

3/4 inch long 1/4-20 stainless black oxide button screws
https://www.amazon.com/Button-Stainless-SG-TZH-Spanner/dp/B0BQ2THM7M/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2336S4NA3E3GC&keywords=1/4-20+stainless+black+oxide+button+screw+3/4+long&qid=1696174947&sprefix=1/4-20+stainless+black+oxide+button+screw+3/4+lon,aps,199&sr=8-4&th=1

Here is link to 1/2 inch 1/4-20 bolts I used on thinner brackets
1/4-20 x 1/2" Button Head Socket Cap Bolts Screws, 20Pcs 304 Stainless Steel 18-8, Allen Hex Drive, Black Oxide by SG TZH(with Hex Spanner)

Stainless flat and lock washers
Hillman Group 830666 Stainless Steel 1/4-Inch Split Lock Washer, 100-Pack, No Size, Steel
1/4 Fender Washer Galvanized Stainless Steel Flat Washers (1/4" x 1", 50)
Prime-Line 9079873 Flat Washers, SAE, 1/4 In. X 5/8 In. OD, Grade 18-8 Stainless Steel (50 Pack)

Slide in economy tnuts secured with loctite.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JF7AIEM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
I also use these stainless 1/4-20 roll in nuts with spring ball https://www.tnutz.com/product/db-015-ss/ secured with loctite for other brackets since slide in nuts have to be installed before you bolt the channel into place or you can unbolt the channel on one side and slide more nuts or slide in studs into it.
