Thank you. Checked out the website.

Looks like this is a popular request. Hopefully Rivian has it pretty high on the list.

Tesla is doing this for years, lock all the compartments, remove the fun mode, access and limit overal speed to what you define.

I believe there is already a feature request at Rivian trackr
Yeah, it’s not a new concept; our 2005 Jaguar had valet mode. Rivian just needs to implement what other manufacturers have been doing.

If you're regularly letting a teen drive an 800hp vehicle to school or work, I fear there's a bit more at play than any amount of locking down can help with. If you want your kid to drive safely you don't give them a Hellcat with a speed governor installed.
True - but since it is an EV, the software is really deciding what kind of car it is anyway.
With the right restrictions, you can make it less of a hellcat and more of a Ford Maverick.

Rivian and Tesla have been doing this to us already in normal modes. Think about it... only sport mode unlocks the extra HP. Teen Mode would just be the opposite by making it more restrictive for a new driver.

With Rivian's push for these cars being platforms... I could see them implementing something like that especially with R2 and R3.

Also, it is likely a lot of 5-6 year old R1's (especially Gen 1's) in a few years becoming the work truck / extra car / toy in a family that the teen ends up driving. Why not add a few safeguards until you know your kid can handle the extra power.

Addition: Valet mode should also lock in the flashlight or, if that’s not possible, add an alert if the flashlight is removed when it was in valet mode.

(And if that’s not possible, it could ask the owner to confirm it’s still there when either activating and deactivating valet mode.)
