Did this change for anyone else? Seems I now have to pull out my phone and press the unlock button after coming out of a store and walking to my S.

After it's woken up, does your phone fully work as a key? By that I mean that you can start it without tapping the keycard against the door?

I've noticed that it's very prone to going into a deep sleep and needs to be manually woken up. But half the time it tells me I need to start it with my keycard. So I haven't been sure if the behavior's unintended, or if my phone's Bluetooth has been on the fritz.

I’m seeing that too.

I’ve actually left the car unlocked in the garage, approach it and the HVB still is decoupled about 3-5 seconds after I open the door.

This is the wrong approach I think. I think the HVB should couple as you approach the vehicle (locked or unlocked).

Yes, phone works as a key just fine after I get in.

Mine was having problems before this update. (iPhone 15). I deleted my phone key and then reapplied the phone key. Then i got the new update, has worked great since then.

restart your phone.

To compare, I have proximity off at home, with that selected my phone wouldn’t work to start the car ever after the update. Worked with Rivian to trouble shoot, nothing helped, I had an appt set as they figured the pcm got fried…..they didn’t suggest to restart the phone but after the call I did that and it’s worked ever since.

2: the truck absolutely goes to sleep quick now and takes a while to wake up

3: My phones 50/50 out in public not quick to unlock the doors, and I look like an idiot waiting for the door to unlock so most of the time if it’s not unlocked by the time I walk up, I’ll get my phone out, usually when I unlock the phone it connects and the truck unlocks, it doesn’t require me to use the app, but still annoying

Yeah, part of my problem is that it seems like I have to restart my phone twice a day if I want any chance of my Rivian to let me drive away with PAAK.

Otherwise my experience is exactly like yours; I'll be standing in a parking lot for like 20 seconds just waiting for my app to communicate with my R1T via the cloud, as opposed to immediately via Bluetooth.

At this point it genuinely feels like I'll have a better experience pulling out my wallet and tapping my keycard for both operations.

My interpretation of your specific example is that's based solely on cellular signal strength which with the addition of C band 5g it broke a lot of towers, and since the user experience is not impacted by in large with calls / nav / music streaming it is seen when you need to send outgoing data like using your phone to unlock the truck.

Next time you have that problem do a speed test, see if it's under 5mb/s (plus ping is just as important to take note of, under 30 good over 100 very bad) if it is, then that's the source of the problem if that's not it, then you will disprove my theory.

I haven't tried restarting my phone yet but will do that. The doors unlock sometimes...
Also having an issue where the seat and steering wheel don't return to my saved position sometimes. So, I get to the S, get in, put on seatbelt, then press brake pedal. Seat and steering wheel are supposed to go to my saved position (my name is shown on the display) but don't always do that now.

Can add to the chorus here. It’s especially annoying when I’m holding a baby in one arm and trying to keep their older sibling from running into the road with my other arm. But it was only good for a single update earlier this summer. Otherwise I’m always frustrated with the phone key function. My Tesla was the same way.

It is definitely an issue. Ever since the last update, PAAK has been barely working, if at all. I’ve went back to carrying a FOB around. Sure hope this gets addressed in the next update.
