I wired RIVN $100k only to find out a few days later that my pick up was still 3 weeks away. It's a scary, weird feeling not really knowing what to expect with this process.

Yeah I guess I'm old school. I don't believe in buying a car you can't see or test drive. I didn't do that when I bought my Tesla and I sure as hell didn't do that this time around. I opted to go with Rivian Financing and cut them a cashiers check that I will hand to them in person just in case any issues arise with delays or rejecting delivery.

Did you say you were financing, then pay in full at delivery?

If you go with financing I don't think you can pay in full at the SV then. Might have to pay the financing company (Chase) directly.

Since they rushed me and said I needed to fulfill all the steps at least 2 business days prior to my scheduled pickup, I selected the Rivian Financing. I've also read other's stories about how their experiences were, so I didn't want to deal with the added headache of third party financing. It just felt cleaner to go with Rivian even though there are better rates being advertised out there.

If my delivery goes as planned and the vehicle isn't a mess (crosses fingers), I will hand over the cashiers check for my down payment. If it's relatively problem free over the course of this year, I'll just pay off the other half that I'm financing since there is no prepayment penalty.

Yeah if I'm satisfied with the vehicle, I will just go to Chase instead of paying the ridiculous 6.99 that Rivian is offering. This is the first time I've seen where the rates for 72 month are better than 36. It's assinine.

That thought had entered into my head recently. I hate the thought of sending all the payment up front. I would think this would also help avoid any overpayment.
