I'm going to guess you used bug spray recently. DEET is a known solvent and will act on some plastics.

Wow. I would have never thought about that. I have been trying to figure out what would cause this. I sprayed DEET on me about an hour before I returned to my vehicle.

these plastics have like a rubber coating on them I wonder if alcohol it and clean that coating off the whole panel so it just looks plastic? Would suck to have to pay to replace this whole panel.

I was going to say it looked burned, but to hear DEET can do that is disturbing. Don’t really want to put it on my skin again either?

I have same issue. Showed to Rivian service tech Upon visit. He indicated the entire door panel needed to be replaced. I’ve done nothing. I live in HI. Sunscreen, I bet is culprit in my case.

We get SC tech‘s from CA. coming to islands until HI SC opens. Wonder why the tech told me otherwise? Can you give me some part # or info that I can discuss with SC when I initiate another call if this is only a 5 min fix. Any help is appreciated.

Did they replace the entire interior door panel or just a portion of it? If entire panel, OP‘s DEET sweat is going to cost some $$ as it likely wont be warranty work

I noticed something similar on my truck recently. It seems like there’s some sort of coating that is sprayed onto the grayish plastic panels. The other day I was cleaning out the truck and I noticed it peeling away on the passenger side door sill. I was wondering if there is a product out there that matches the coloring to do a quick DIY fix.
