What is the # in the red dot on the Rivian Icon on my phone ? I chose the California as a prefix because I had to, but this question is on my Samsung phone likely in all states. right?

I think it means you have new messages from Rivian. On the bottom line, there is an icon of a human - it probably also has a red dot next to it. Click on it.

I will look again, I have looked for such a couple times, never foung a pop up or list of messages or anything.

In the android app there is a menu line at the bottom, with three icons - a Rivian icon, a map icon, and a human icon (there is probably a red dot next to it). Clicking on the human brings up your account - it will probably say you've got "New message."

The red dor is on the Rivian icon on my "desktop" of the phone, but when I open the app, the screen has my mileage, the mode I am in, the lock/unlock icons, a square of 4 squares in a circle. Climate box, energy box, Gear guard, and more, ending with book a demo drive.
The 3 icons at bottom a truck, a map icon, the human, in the human, my name, manage account, service, tools and resources, finaly a black roadside assist.
No messages, no red dot having the same # as the original Icon has on phone app page.

Well, now I am wondering, too. I have a red dot with a 3 next to my Rivian icon. When I opened the app, there was a red dot next to the human (my account). When I opened My Account, it said I had a new message. After reading the new message, there is no longer red dot next to the human icon, but there is still a red dot with the number three next to the Rivian icon. So I was mistaken as to its meaning.
P.S. there is a red dot with the number 2 next to each of the Plug Share and EVGo icons (and a couple of other icons), too, so it's not just Rivian - it must have a general meaning for android.

Here's a discussion on the red dot notifications in android (called badges). What it is that Rivian is trying to notify us about, I don't know. It could be related to the open service request, or maybe Rivian hasn't properly implemented it, to clear once they have been seen.
