My wife and I got new iPhones. Went from 14 promax to 16 promax. A couple weeks ago when I got into the vehicle for the first time the screen prompted me to set up the new phone which went flawlessly. However since the phone migrated from the old phone the name of the phone remained “iPhone 14” so I had two of the same name on the vehicle under my name. It worked so I didn’t delete the old one since couldn’t tell which one it was (same name).
Fast forward one month. Wife goes to drive the car but her phone was not set up after the new phone. We go to set her up (after appropriately changing the name on her phone to say iPhone 16 so we can delete the old profile) and it gets as far as the screen with the yellow set up button but clicking it on the central screen does nothing.
So far I’ve tried.
Hard reset
Soft reset
Sleep cycle
Turning Rivian Bluetooth on and off
Turning Rivian hotspot on and off
Turning Rivian LTE on and off (hard reset)
Cycling Bluetooth on the phone
Deleting her phone from my Rivian app.
Forgetting all Rivian Bluetooth connections on phone
Forgetting both iPhones from the Rivian Bluetooth screen
Logging in and out of the app
Deleting the app, reinstalling
Rebooting the iPhone
Still nothing.
So I called Rivian support. The nice gentleman told me to delete my phone profile from the Rivian. Now granted my phone works fine for PAAK. I was very hesitant. He reassured me oh it’s because you didn’t delete your iPhone 14 so the car is confused. Ok.
I deleted my phones from the Rivian. He reassured me you can connect yours just fine. For good measure did a hard and soft reset. So we go to set up my phone as it now unpaired/deleted. And it’s stuck on the non responsive “set up phone” button now too. Argh! Should have known to not do it. Now both phones (mine and the wife’s) are not working as PAAK.
The Rivian phone tech said whoops this must a software issue. Will address it with a service appt. ?
Now I’ll have to carry the key fob around like a heathen. To add insult to injury now that my phone is unpaired I also lose access to some updates on the app and the live camera feature.
Update: 11/25 got the 2024.43 installed tonight and it seems to have resolved the paak issue.
