Gen 1 Quad with 27k miles. It has been in the SC probably 5 times for warranty repairs. Each time the SC people were great -- professional and courteous. About a year ago while rotating the tires on a Saturday, I noticed grease on the inside of one of the wheels. The soonest appointment was for like 8-10 weeks away. When submitting a ticket Rivian typically calls back within a few hours to confirm...in this instance they called back on Monday when the service call center reopened. Since this was a leaking issue, they got me into the SC on Tuesday, diagnosed a bad CV joint and had the truck back to me on Thursday. I had a loaner in the interim.

I live in the Bay Area and last fall I got a scary call about my mom's health (she ended up being fine). She lives up in the Seattle area. Within two hours, I packed a suitcase, dropped the dog in her passenger seat and we drove up to Seattle on a short notice. I didn't for a moment not think about taking the truck up as it had been there before and it's been dependable for things like that.

Sure, you may have issues early on -- that's what a warranty is for. I've found Rivian to be approachable and respectful when servicing these vehicles.

Go drive and be adventurous...

Thanks very much for the helpful responses. Exactly the experience I am looking for. Def know forums can be for venting and some exaggeration. Rivian and Land Rover have poor JD Power scores but high customer satisfaction. I guess both things can be true.
found some interesting checklists for delivery walk around so that’s helpful here.
I've had an R1S Tri for 6 months. I see the myriad complaints, but keep in mind that people not having problems typically do not speak up nearly as much as those who do. While my experience with service (mobile only so far) has been disappointing, my issues have been cosmetic only. Overall I am very pleased with my Rivian and expect to keep it for a long time. For reference, the vehicle it replaced was a 1990 4Runner that I owned for 28 years. Also, this is my 6th EV. Been doing it since 2013 (all leases until the Rivian) in a variety of 500e's, Sparks, and Bolts. My wife and I are currently EV only, as we recently swapped her Lexus SUV for a Blazer EV (also leased, EV #7). When that lease expires, perhaps an R2 for her.

Best wishes with your Rivian, and happy adventuring!

How do you have a specific delivery date before even placing an order?

I placed my order for a R1S Tri on July 8th and still have a rolling 8-12 weeks.

That estimate typically does not change, and then all of a sudden you'll be notified that the vehicle is ready for you.

I realize it was confusing after I wrote it. I’m taking delivery in August of a “2025” It’s in stock and will be shipped after I finish order. I used short hand. I appreciate the comments for everyone - thanks

Thanks. [edited to remove question that OP clarified]. Random blather left below.

I’ve been pretty disappointed in the Rivian order process and have been watching the various forums for hints to actual delivery times.

for context, I placed an order for a 2026 R1S Tri, black, with black all terrains. I click submit and it says Congrats in your order. But no confirmation of what was just ordered, what a next step would be, etc. I get an email and it says basically “we got your order!” But has a picture of an LA Silver R1S. This seemed odd so I went back to my profile and found my order and it’s a LA Silver Dual standard (the most basic of basic builds) clearly not right…

So I call, and quickly get someone who is all “that’s impossible”. Back and forth “are you sure you didn’t…xxx?” “Yes I’m sure”. But they rebuild the order correctly and I go off. But my spider sense just won’t relax…. The order page continues to show for a week something like “figuring out delivery time”. But then that part disappears… not is. “Is blank” just that how line/field is gone. It doesn’t say 8-12 weeks or anything…

Basically im just excited for the vehicle and have had just enough “weird” on the order to make me less comfortable to just sit patiently and wait for the email. So I’m making all you guys read my sob story to fill the time. ;-)

The service centers aren't dismissing legitimate issues; they work towards them and try to get them fixed. Another thing to keep in mind is that all the new people with low post counts come here to air their grievances. There is always a high concentration of negative feedback on any forum due to this fact.

I've had two different Rivians and have been a Rivian owner since '22. The only vehicle better than my Gen 1 quad was the Gen 2 tri I currently own. My Rivian is one of my favorite possessions. I enjoy driving my car every time I get behind the wheel.
I agree, I have a Gen 1 DM performance and a Gen 2 Tri. I personally, like the Gen 2 better than my Gen 1 and am jealous that my girlfriend drives it and not me. Because, it’s quieter than mine and feels smoother because of it to me. Mine has the suspension rattles and misc. squeaks and creaks. At some point, I’m dumping off the Gen 1 for a Quad, but that won’t be for another year ish.

New R1T tri owner (two months). Been great so far. BTW it’s been over 90 degrees here and the the sunroof defuser works great! AC actually gets too cold at times. No need to even use the seat cooler.

I admit I’m a research nut and reviewed tons of reviews and videos on this truck. The gen 2 changes were substantial and the discounts well worth it. This is our 5th ev, 2nd ev truck. Software is way better than I expected. Doesn’t take long to grasp Rivian speak and logic. Things seem logical and well thought out. The owners manual on board is actually very good (Unlike Tesla or Ford Lightning).
