It looks great. But what happens the first time you do a tire rotation?
From experience the lug nuts will wear off on the side walls but probably thats about it

We help people sell their Rivian in the easiest way possible.
Finally got around to following through on my intent to dip my factory 21" wheels. I used the kit from DipYourCar that comes with cleaner, brake masking bags, dip release, and 5 cans. Prep wasn't bad, and I ended up doing 3 light dusting coats and 3 heavy wet coats. I went with The Hyperdip brand Brass Monkey to pair with Forest Green. It's definitely not a color you'd use with Red, Black, Blue, or Yellow but with Forest Green I think it looks great. Not the cleanest job but the overall look is good enough for me and much better than the factory 2 tone finish.

First went here https://www.dipyourcar.com/pages/dyc-university and watched the relevant videos and then I basically just followed that process. I bought the wheel kit that they sell and it comes with the masking bags, cleaner, 5 cans of paint, and dip release.

  • Cleaned the wheels thoroughly with the cleaner and a microfiber cloth
  • threaded the masking bags behind the wheels to cover the brake calipers and discs completely
  • used the dip release on the entire face of the tire
  • elevated the truck to High to allow more room to work
  • 3 light dusting coats form the base and allow the spray to fully bond to the wheel. Even after 3 coats, it looks like crap still but its important to do this before going with heavy coats.
  • 3 heavy wet coats making sure to get the entire surface from multiple angles
  • Went about 15 minutes between coats, making sure it was dry to the touch and not tacky.
  • Let it dry for about an hour before removing the masking bags from the brakes
  • Let it set overnight before peeling off the overspray and hitting areas that didn't peel away with a stiff bristle brush.
Looks great! How hard is it to remove? I’m leasing a Rivian so I’d need to get the wheels back to original. Would that be very difficult?

I dipped the wheels on a leased car previously and after 3 years the dip was pretty easy to remove. I would say it took me maybe an hour to get all 4 wheels cleaned up (they were off the car, so that made things much easier).
