Driving on some dusty, washboarded dirt roads and noticed a lot of slip and bad grip on uphill turns. I noticed this a couple times recently and feel like it’s worse than the past. Feels like I’m spinning over the road instead of gripping it.

Original Pirelli 20” ATs, at about 8/32 tread, inflated to 48 psi. Gen 1 Quad, All-Terrain mode.

Is this a tire thing, or possibly a software issue, or just to be expected under these conditions?

Many of us have noticed the original ATs are pretty garbage off-road. Airing down helps, but when compared to almost any other off-road tire they underperform.

What are you driving (Gen1 Quad, Dual, or Tri*) and what drive mode settings are you using?

I was just on very dusty washboard roads yesterday in our Tri (Off Road Rally standard height soft and On Road All purpose standard height soft) at 48PSI on factory Pirellis with almost 2,000 miles on them and it seemed fine / just like our Gen1 Quad.

*If you’re driving a Gen2 Quad today then I have other questions. :)

Oh thanks, Quad and All-Terrain mode, High. I think it was Soft unless it got changed some high.

I was wondering if there could possibly have been a software update that made it worse because I haven't had this issue before, but to a point above, maybe my right foot gained some weight...

Air down. I air down to 20-25 PSI but Rivian recommends 30 or 31 for the 20" all terrains.

If you were going fast, it may have just been lack of traction due to lack of ground contact... airing down will definitely help with that. I know there were some gen2 suspension changes, but I don't think the recent updates had anything for gen1

Seems to handle appropriately for a 7k vehicle to me
