This has got to be the stupidest question ever asked here, but how can I remove the cord from the Rivian portable charger (the one included with the vehicle)? I have the 120V cord connected, and I’d like to remove it and insert the 240V NEMA 14-50 one. The little instruction booklet seems to imply that the cord should just pull off, but mine is very well locked in, which makes sense because the cords have a small tab that seems to engage with the charger to lock in place. I’m pulling as hard as I can and I think I will tear the wires before the cord releases. I would think that there would be a button (or a screwdriver slot) to depress that little tab and pop the cord out, but I don’t see anything. What am I missing? Thanks.

I've swapped my cords multiple times. There's no trick to it, just pull hard. If it's been outside in the rain there could be gunk or oxidation built up causing it to stick. I find it easier to grasp the cord low near the charger connector, and use my thumb to push on the charger while pulling on the cable. Sometimes a little left-right wiggle while pulling helps.

Especially the first couple of times you connect the cords, it's in there pretty well and takes a good tug to pull loose, once it's been done a few times it gets a bit easier. Or maybe you just get used to it :)

We have switched the cord on our portable charger a number of times. It has always been difficult to pull the cord apart. We have even tried lubricating the little notch where the cord goes in. It's still hard to do.

You have pull the cord hard to get it out. If it breaks get another from Rivian!

Yosu, many thanks!! Your instructions solved this problem for me. I did have to take my thumb out of me arse. Such is life!! Seriously though, I appreciate your idea on this!!

I have never been able to get that plug out. I have tried many times. I had my sons also try. 2 of us held onto the charger while 1 of us held the plug. Nothing! It doesn't come out for anything

It's designed to be tight, but not that tight.

Call (855) RIVIAN-5, or show it to the staff at a Service Center.

Best wishes!
