Background: We live in Black Hills SD. Got our R1S Aug 24 2023 in Cleveland OH through Shop. Placed our order in Feb 2022 at pre March pricing. Used our daughter’s address in Cincinnati. Drove back to SD after pick up. Then another long road trip to Florida and back to Cincinnati. Now have 5,185 miles and not even a month old! (Btw wish we had the compact spare on these long road trips!!!)
We had a short list of issues to be addressed for our new R1S. Called and got a SC appointment for our arrival date in Cinci with a few days notice. Said we’d be in Cinci from Sept 20 to 27. The SC got the whole list done a day early and we picked up our R1S on Sept 26! Our only concern was communication goes through Rivian SC and messages get relayed to the actual local SC. It works but with time delay. App worked well with reports on progress and approval of work planned.
Here are the issues we had (you’ll see most were included on the compilation list someone posted on another thread) :
1) Automatic window up/down malfunction needed to be recalibrated
2) Adhesive like blotches on the sky roof cleaned up
3) Spots on all windows were also cleaned
4) Awful noise when steering wheel adjusted in/out fixed
5) Driver and Center screen blacked out while driving 65 mph on highway. It came back after 2 min but was startling. Diagnostics didn’t show a cause. We were instructed how to “ mark” the event if it occurs again by holding hazard light button and the far left button in steering wheel both together for 15 sec.
6)We high centered the car, but not bad enough to stop us, during a normal Meals on Wheels run in Lead SD which has notoriously steep declines on hairpin turns to some out of the way homes! The plastic panel on far right undercarriage was damaged. No battery concern, but a bolt came through. So guess what it cost to replace that panel? Only $94 parts plus $40 labor.?
The SC arranged an Enterprise rental because no R1S or T available.
Hope this level of detail is of interest. We felt it was a good experience all around. Kudos to Cincinnati SC. Just started operation in April 2023. Also just started getting Shop and Delivered cars to distribute when we picked up our serviced car on Sept 26.
