Hey all I did my sunroof, windshield, hood and front bumper with clear PPF from TWraps.

I've never done anything like this before except adding screen protectors in the front and back of the Rivian interior. Overall I'm pretty impressed with both the product and the process.

I made a video you can check it out here:

Wow that's awesome!!!! Thanks so much for sharing!
And why didn't I think of using my hose for the PPF application 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ Brilliant!

PS For the windshield - notice that in about 1-2 weeks from now (weather dependent) it will look better than the first day post install...there is curing time that really makes a sensible difference.

Well it seems like you have a nice garage you can pull into do everything. I don't have that luxury and was reliant on a couple nice sunny non windy days to do this. So the hose is sitting right there. Not sure how much water you want to squeegee out of your garage!

Thanks for watching and the questions I had along the way.

Really nice job, thanks for documenting and sharing it.

I did my whole truck with the Twraps kit. And with no garage and a ton of free pollen floating around too. So I did it in the open and had to deal with getting insects, dust, pollen out. In the end, it still came out looking great. It's not perfect by far, I have a few edges with some crinkles that have caught debris over the months, a few bubbles I couldn't get out, and some edges that aren't quite straight.

But none of that matters at all/ As a clear PPF, it's 100% invisible to anyone not investigating specifically for it, and approaching a year after application it still looks brand new. Any areas that were not problematic for me at the start are still adhered/bonded perfectly.

It's also already protected my truck from a paint scrape from a HUGE door ding (so big I think it must have been intentional), that ripped the PPF from the surface. I had to get the PPF re-applied and PDR on the panel, but there was no damage to the finish of the paint at all, so the PPF 100% did its job. The shop I brought it to was impressed I DIY'd it and said it's honestly a better job than some professional jobs they've seen. Which I'm sure is them being nice, but I'm sure they've also seen some horror stories.

Overall, it's great. The only thing is, it took me hours. I spent 3 weeks to do it, a panel at a time. Which was fine. But if I ever get it re-applied, I think I'll let the pros do the work :) However, I'm going to pick up the sunroof UV one they have, nobody is ever going to see that anyways so I can be sloppy with it, and I think it'll really cut down on back cabin heat.

Same here. I'm also wrapping mine outdoors and has taken months to finish because I'm doing one panel at time whenever I have time away from the family. Sometimes my kids come to help, but they only stick around for a few minutes.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _

For those of you who are thinking about DIY, it's definitely do-able.
Be patient and the right ambient temperatures does help. Raising the vehicle to off-road mode helps protect your back.

Personally, if I had to do this over again, I would have bought the DIY protection plan because I screwed up the hood and rear quarter panel. However, I'm okay with my messed up panels because it's not a show car. My amateur work will protect the vehicle in the trails.

For R1S owners, I suggest starting with the rear doors. At least to me, it was the easiest and helped boost my confidence.

Thanks for checking it out and the feedback. Yeah, i got a little fooled by the sunroof being pretty easy. The hood and bumper took some time!

But...as a newbie, i did the two part sunroof in a couple hours. Given you've done a whole car, you could probably knock it out pretty quick.

My son did good the first day. The second day he said his hands were cold :p But he still helped.

By the way, I pugged my heat gun to the back of the Rivian simply because I could. Why not right? 🤣 I know my garage isn't only a few steps away, but what's the fun in that.
