I think this issue is simpler than this whole discussion has evolved into. Rivian offers Xpel wraps as part of their service, I've seen it advertised in official Rivian channels. Since it was bought through a Rivian affiliate, and the defect was Rivian's fault, I believe you should be getting the wrap done as part of the repair.

I understand Rivian's point of view with not wanting to incur extra warranty costs, but if they made a vehicle that wasn't broken you wouldn't have this problem. To me that means the repair is on them.

Ah. Mine clicks every so often. I’ve just lived with it. Maybe I’ll put in a ticket to see how long it’ll take. But eh.

I’m in agreement with the not doing anything aftermarket to a car that might have any issues. Glad you had them wait on doing the hood. Wouldn’t want you to have to pay for both things. Ooof. Sorry you’re in this pickle :(.
Could not disagree more with you if I tried. Keep in mind that some issues pop up and develop long after delivery took place.

For me, no way I would have waited, let alone driven my Rivian before installing PPF. Indeed, it sat in my garage, undriven, for 30 days after taking delivery to allow for paint to cure, so ordered my expert PPF installer before touching it.

A month after PPF went on, a quality defect appeared on one of the doors requiring replacement of entire door. Rivian fixed issue and fully covered PPF reapplication.

I would have waited a month or two before wrapping to make sure everything was up to snuff before incurring the extra expense. Could have done a spray-on ceramic for $15 in the meantime. But that's just me.

Wait a month or two, eh?
Why one or two months?
Why not 5 months, 6.7432 months, 1 year, 1.32589 years?
What if issue develops long after two months?
Sounds as if one or two months is some sort of divine guideline.

For many, PPF and ceramic coating always, always shall be done by expert, professional installers who exist for the discerning customer and know what they are doing. Never no way shall it be done by some vehicle manufacturer before delivery, let alone by some DIY atrocious bull.

Reading is fundamental.

I was offering my perspective on what I would do - not proclaiming anything. You can convince yourself all you want about being "a discerning customer". I guess you haven't seen the factory satin PPF's on Range Rovers which are on the Monroney. But you do you.

I know I am. No convincing needed ever. For PPF, no way I would let Rivian do PPF, which probably just slaps it on, done, out the door. And no ceramic coating. Might as well not even bother.
My expert XPEL installer went over the entire vehicle, did paint correction ( on a brand-new vehicle!). Hell, he even redid the hood because found a tiny paint spot on it that he missed.
Perhaps other vehicle manufacturers do as good a job, but anybody who thinks Rivian will do all that, well...ignorance is bliss, the saying goes.
You get what you pay for. Expert PPF installers are for the discerning customers; they are not cheap because they do exemplary work.

Still wondering what is so magical and all-covering about waiting two months...NOT!

I appreciate the additional anecdotes and commentary.

I spoke with the manager at Bellevue SC, and during that conversation he said he was willing to lose a customer to stand by his interpretation that it’s my problem, and lost his cool at me.

I tried to work with him and asked if SC’s have any latitude in interpretation and customer service options, to which he admitted yes, but refused to check in with other SC’s to understand why they may have covered PPF costs when similar issues arose.

That was pretty unprofessional in my opinion, and I’ve escalated it to corporate.
