I am also a long time XM and Waze user, and CarPlay\Android Auto, while buggy, has been awesome on that front. Losing XM isn't that big of a deal for me, but losing Waze on the main screen is a huge concern as there isn't anywhere good to put a phone for viewing. The recessed air vents likely will prevent mounting it there, and the interior is honestly too beautiful to just slap a 3M mount to. Someone mentioned above the fit and finish of Ram being similar, and while I wouldn't disagree, I think its important to note that the quality of materials at least feels much more luxurious. The R1T has real wood throughout, as well as what I assume is brushed aluminum. As nice and luxurious as the Ram is, especially compared to the crap interiors coming from Ford/Chevy, the R1T feels like a true luxury car. While the Ram does have leather over much of the interior, there is still a lot of plastic.

On the plus side for the Rivian, the center screen blows away the Ram's. It's gigantic even compared to the rams and its gorgeous. While the Ram's is great compared to average automotive screens, The R1T's looks like a high end computer/tablet screen. The resolution and color are in a different league.

I just got one of these hopefully it will work with my phone (for Waze) and my 30oz water container. I just received it and tried it in my Ram and home, I think it will work on the R1T.

I had a 2017 Ram 1500 Longhorn. The absolute biggest difference is the size. In a Ram, your front passenger is in another county. For me that was my wife, so the R1T feels more intimate. The R1T’s handling and ride is far superior and of course there is the neck breaking acceleration.

If it weren’t for the visceral roar of a Hemi, it would be nearly as quiet as the R1T. I think the Ram is very comparable in wind and road noise. This is especially true in the newest generation of the Ram. That is a luxury truck.

At the end of the day, you need to ask if a much smaller truck fit your needs? The size difference is massive. The bed size difference is massive. If size matters, then hold off and wait for Ram or Chevy to release their EV. Give up on getting a Ford Lightning for a few years.

^ Agree with the above. I traded in my 2019 Laramie (with ram boxes). Biggest difference by far is the size. The only thing right now I miss about my RAM was the room inside, especially the back seat. I knew this beforehand so it was no surprise things are a bit smaller with the riv. However, parking is WAY easier with the riv. I've got two kids and two dogs and we're all still happy with the room back there. I used the ram boxes a ton, I've easily adapted now to the gear tunnel, frunk and under back seat storage for all the farm crap I haul around.

As of now, I love the riv. I do worry about something going wrong though and it's dead in the water. I'm 3.5 hours from the closest service center. I know any vehicle can break down, it's just the fact the experts to fix this thing are so far away.

I look forward to a long happy life with this truck, I just hope it plays out like I'm praying it does.

One thing I'll share, I ended up going to arbitration court for my 19 RAM. There was a list of things that were wrong with it that RAM wouldn't/couldn't fix. Biggest issue by far was the amount of dust that got into the cab every single time I drove gravel. I drive gravel a lot and having to detail the inside on an almost weekly basis just flat out got old and I eventually gave up. RAM could never fix it, could never explain it. I was told by the local RAM dealer: "they're not making trucks for dirt anymore, they're building them for highway use" unreal

I tow a 30’ Airstream with my RAM 1500 Limited and the difference in towing the Airstream with my R1T is remarkable. I don’t feel comfortable towing with the RAM much above 65 mph because it feels unstable, almost like the trailer is controlling the truck — and, yes I use a weight distribution / anti-sway hitch. The R1T is so rock solid that I can cruise comfortably at 75-80mph and not be aware I’m pulling a trailer. Not to mention the smooth, quiet acceleration I have with the R1T.

The only reason I keep both the R1T and the RAM is the lack of a reliable charging network. We like to travel all over the country and the non-Tesla fast chargers are just too far apart and waaaaay too unreliable. The day that Tesla opens up their network is the day I sell the RAM.

Good luck with your new R1T.

I don't miss my Ram 2500 Cummins. That is because I kept it. I love my R1T too, though. The Ram is bigger and slower but also more comfortable. My Ram rides much better than my R1T, but that is only because it has an expensive suspension system on it (3" Kings). I love the acceleration on the R1T and the economy. I wish there was an aftermarket suspension for it though. Right now the Ram wins for the Infotainment (Android Auto nav and upgraded speakers). That could change if Rivian improves the worthless navigation system or adds AA.

For now I will be keeping both. I grab the R1 keys for the local stuff. Ram keys if I am gonna see a lot of dirt.
