Personally, I like the Silverado EV.... Except its just to big

It wont fit in my garage, and with my back issues, its to tall for me.

These two aren't really direct competitors so really depends on your needs, if you need a truck to do work the GM twins have a lot going for them with a bed that can take up to a 10 ft load. The R1T is more "adventurous" daily driver / off-roader / sportier type of vehicle. Fits me well except for the long-term servicing of having to go to Rivian for everything, I'm a guy who likes to DIY everything.

Long-term servicing the Rivian will be a problem with no parts availability and when you can buy parts you are expected to have the SC install them at really high prices. With the GM trucks it's going to be like most ICE vehicles with reasonable out of warranty parts and service costs which you can buy from hundreds of online websites.

To be fair I feel the same about the Lightning or any full size truck. I'm a single person and I want to be able to park in my garage. Just need space for bikes, camping gear and a dog or 2.

State of Charge did a 70mph range test. Range was great: 400+ miles

But the efficiency at 2.0mi/kwh was nothing special.

It gets more range because it has a ton more batteries, not because the motors + battery are more efficient

I don’t find it compelling, but I can’t think of many GM vehicles I’ve ever found compelling. They still manage to sell plenty of cars.

Not every car is designed for the same target market, even if they have similarities of being electric trucks.

We’re at the point in the EV truck market where more options mean a bigger market more than one competitor taking share from another.

I’m start to worry when there’s compelling EV trucks and 7-seaters with 300 miles or range and a $10k lower price point.

IMO, the Silverado EV just became the most compelling EV truck on the market. Rivian is going to have problems if GM can really ramp up production.

If you are gonna talk about a price cut, it's good to have the price for a start.
