I'm confused are you saying the Rivian has a better or worse interior? The new Ascend interiors are really high quality—much higher quality than a legacy American vehicle.
I thought I was pretty clear that I think the Rivian interior is superior to the other EV pickups.

This will be real competition to R1T in the midwest where full size pick ups rule the day and there are dealerships everywhere. Probably not the coasts or in particular SoCal, but possibly the rest of the country...this will challenge Rivian. Once they make it into a Suburban/Tahoe then it will take on the R1S, too. And GM already has a substantial lead to market compared to R2 with Blazer EV and Equinox EV or whatever they call those things.

I want Rivian to suceed....but the longer time goes on....my concerns they want to be a mass market player....with a niche product and support capability....is at least a bit concerning.

On the upside...when the wheels fall off my R1T I see there will be options.

In the Bay Area, people loooooove their full size pickups. Even more so as you move out of the area.

The R1 series wasn’t ever intended to be mass market.

I agree. I was talking Rivian as a whole. Its not a niche market sized organization. And with R2 being a ways off yet and R3 even farther...going to have to manage that organization with a lack of mass market products.

Truth. Hopefully they can stick it out and do the best they can until R2

The ascend trims are hardly different than the adventures and are absolutely not nicer than rams tungsten or the gmc Denali ultimate.

I would never cross shop the R1T and Silverado.

In fact, I’d never buy anything from GM again
It's been a while for me too...but when I exit warranty in next year or so....my thoughts on Rivian will be subject to what they think they are going to charge me for out of warranty repairs. If they think I will stay a brand loyalist with things like I have seen on forums, like $14k to replace two front spring/damper assemblies....I might be at the GM dealer next morning. Time will tell....if the costs stay reasonable....I stay Rivian for life and influencer of everyone I know....

492 miles of range? Damnnnnnnnnnn
Work Truck with max range: $77,795, an EPA-estimated 492 miles
RST with max range: $97,895, an estimated 460 miles

Don't think prospective Rivian buyers will even consider the WT even with that range.
RST has great range and nice exterior styling, but interior is crap for that price.

Need nice interior and range: GMC Sierra EV at 99K+, but exterior is crap IMHO

They are always trade offs.

I disagree. Not sure if you’ve seen an Ascend in person but it is those subtle changes like the improved stitching, plaid accents and contrasting woods that make an Ascend on par with a German car interior.

At this price point you expect premium materials AND style. I don’t think the tungsten trim or the Denali ultimate are very stylish. New Cadillac trims are pretty stylish too, but that’s all I can think of from legacy that comes close to what I’m talking about.

I am going to have to say....I am not all that impressed with the Ascend but I commend Rivian for getting the attention they are, with a minimal amount of changes.

Seems a different stiching pattern, color pallette, and some cloth pieces are really impressing people which as a sales person....I find the elegance of their sales pitch impressive...and impressively successful. But I see alot of snake oil with it.

I still like it...and wouldn't hesitate to get a new TM or QM with it, but would rather have them keep all that and bring back a truly premium audio system like my Meridian.

Edit....To Don's point...I have not seen one in person...so maybe I will change my mind when I do.
