The rubber washers and glue I don’t believe are needed for Rivian’s. My guess is they have all install kits premade and ship the same kits. When I look at installs for 4Runners the sealant is used to fill up the large washers on the factory rack mounts to waterproof them. Rivian’s obviously don’t need those.

I thought of doing something similar on the trim with vinyl but I wondered how it would wear and show dirt over time. I think it’s a nice touch.

If they use the same or similar small parts kits, that might explain also why I was short 14 bolts for the crossbars since the R1S has so many crossbars compared to other builds.

What mi/kWh would you normally get before?

Here is a very similar drive I took last October - this was in All Purpose for the whole drive - same tires and pressures. Oddly the same average speed and similar temperature.

Maybe @Nano has seen some efficiency change or none; or hasn’t had an opportunity to go on a long drive yet.

@Nano and @Polar does it bother you that the back of the rack doesn't follow the taper of the roof? Any way we can get some shots showing how much the overhang is? Thanks in advance.

It doesn’t bother me at all and I’ve got a lot of compliments on it. The wind noise is very minor as well and I’m sure I’m down in efficiency but can’t tell you how much since I also have the Megawatt sliders.

I just did a 170 mile trip out and back each way with 4 guys and gear and lots of elevation change. The Rivian mileage prediction was pretty darn accurate and I arrived with maybe 4-5 miles more range than predicted when I started 3hrs before. That tells me this hasn’t affected range very much since it is about what I saw before I put on the sliders and roof rack. But I’m not a precision guy. I’m a close enough guy.

Truly not bad - it’s just some angles can really accentuate it.

this last one makes it look … way worse but it’s that specific top down angle

Thanks for the quick response, guys. I'm going back and forth between the Prinsu and the Overland Ruffrax racks. I prefer the cleaner top line of the Prinsu but also prefer that the ORR fits the taper better. I'm not sure if that by itself is worth the $2K premium. @Polar, thanks for the pictures. It really makes it clear how little the overhang actually is.

I saw the ORR rack in person and it is noticeably taller than the Prinsu rack plus I have a hard time paying an extra $2K just because I drive a Rivian vs my 4Runner.

I just returned from driving from Vancouver,WA to Bend, OR out and back for a meeting. I have the Prinsu rack and Megawatt Rock Sliders and the 20in AT OEM wheels. This was 3500 feet of elevation up and back down and Conserve for probably 75% of the drive and saw right at 2.00 kw/mile. It hit 2.01 right before I got to the little hill before my house and settled back. Overall not bad.
