Went to the slopes yesterday and passed by another Rivian with all of its handles open. Passed by a 2nd time 10 minutes later and it was still open. I guess theres not a timer on the locks? I always listen for the sound and check my app to make sure the doors are all locked.

there is an auto lock feature but you have to enable it.

So--we are still driving a Tesla Model 3, 2020, and love the automatic locking mechanism and the folding side windows. Rivian doesn't do that? We always check to hear the beep and see the mirrors folding...
Rivian does both of those, you just need to enable it.

another option is to allow us to disable the door handles presenting themselves when unlocked. that reduces the visible sign that the vehicle is unlocked. useful when were out in public and forget to lock and very useful at home when we dont want to lock the vehicle when were going to be going in and out but dont want a visible sign that the vehicle is unlocked.

yes i know it creates a new use case of us not knowing if the vehicle is locked but thats no different than any other car today. you click the lock on the fob to be sure you locked it. and in our case we can always check the app to double check.

I’m sitting at a restaurant about 25 feet from my R1S and it keeps unlocking randomly when some people walk close to it but not others. ?
so this happened 3-4 times during dinner. Luckily I was close enough to notice and lock the car but this is really bad. This definitely shouldn’t happen! I’m wondering if a certain app on a person’s own phone is triggering it.

No. Your proximity unlock is doing this. You are right on the edge of the range of Bluetooth, and the vehicle is likely using the motion as a trigger to start the unlock sequence.
