I purchased this headrest removal tool from forum member @raylepper almost a year ago, and just wanted to show my appreciation for his ingenious solution. I’ve saved myself countless frustrating hours moving car seats in and out of our R1S thanks to this tool. I also have an ONWRD Supply Co. headrest that I take on and off for road and camping trips that would be such a hassle without this tool. If you have ever found yourself needing to raise or remove the 2nd or 3rd row headrests in your R1, and you suspect you may need to do it again in the future - even once - I highly recommend this tool. Especially if you are in the young kids/car seat stage of life. Your seats and your blood pressure will thank you!

And thank you, @raylepper for a great tool!

Thanks for the kind words James. Glad the tool has saved you some grief. I've actually given a couple to the techs at the Richmond VA Service Center. They just grin when they see it work.

Mine lives in the center console bin. I don't have to remove my headrests often, but when I do I thank Ray for an amazing tool. I feel, like a set of pucks, it should be in every Rivian at all times. You only need to remove the headrest once to appreciate what grief this tool will save you.

Thanks for posting this. I just ordered one for myself. I can’t fathom how Rivian was able to make removing headrests so incredibly difficult when it’s been a simple process for decades.

Looks like a nice tool! I wouldn't hesitate to purchase if your headrests are putting up a fight.

However, for others who are curious, I'll say my R1S Gen2 headrest removal experience has been pretty painless. The very first removal was definitely cumbersome, needing a few screw drivers and some patience. Since then, they've come off very easily by hand. And no, I didn't break anything, they still pop back in securely. I think just loosening them up by removing once or twice has been a simple enough solution. But YMMV!
