I wouldn't worry about it. A July build is fairly recent and more than likely is just a result of someone not being able to follow through with the purchase. At traditional brick and mortar dealers, cars are damaged all the time through transit and are repaired and sold without any thought. I may be the outlier, but when purchasing a car at a brick and mortar dealership I never once looked at the specific build date or asked if there were any issues when the vehicle was delivered.

Looks like I’d better pay more attention on the checklist on the delivery day as others doing.

Just worrying about the aftermath like refund process/rematching VIN if I do not accept the car.
Make sure to check door handle alignment with handles in and alignment of hood, fenders etc and look for pin holes in the leather console.

Why do you think it was "rejected". It's a newish build, and the guide has told you it has passed all inspections. New cars are damaged all the time during shipping and delivery - they get fixed and sold as new everyday and nobody is the wiser.

My assumption, given it's such a recent build, is that the VIN was assigned to somebody who ended up not being ready to go through with the purchase for whatever reason (aka, rejected), and the VIN got reassigned. I would not assume that it was rejected for some massive unresolvable quality issue.

I'd have no issues whatsoever with scheduling delivery and giving a good look-over before signing final paperwork

Update - decided to return the vehicle under 7 days / 1k miles RIVIAN policy.

I hope my case is the only exceptional bad case from R1 shop order /delivery.

Took delivery last week with several ticketed fixable items for Nov. appointment.
Advised to report any new item to be fixed in next 48hrs.
Next day at home, found multiple dents on panels while prep. for paint correction. Some of them are not repairable by PDR as located on the edges.
Contacted guide for starting the vehicle return process.
The guide was very kind and supportive for the return process.
Expecting full refund including all Tax and Fees via check. $1000 deposit is non-refundable that I should eat up.

Please try to get details(VIN, production date, current location) of the vehicle before confirm it from R1 shop. It will cost you $1k.
