Has anyone developed a standard suspension kit that can replace the air suspension on the R1? I know other brands have aftermarket kits that can accomplish this. I believe a lot of people would be interested in something like this.
I haven’t seen a widely available standard suspension kit specifically for the R1 yet, but it sounds like a great idea.

Maybe when the suspension is no longer supported in 15+ years someone will attempt a makeshift system.
By then there will probably not be enough on the road to develop a commercially available kit.

There will be enough replacement half-shafts and dampers to last 30 years.
eBay has a ton.

When a rapid charging 500+ mile Rivian drops I'll be unloading this or passing it down to one of my kids.

Regardless of why someone might want to convert to non-air suspension, it is, of course, possible. That being said, it is also going to be very expensive.

We did this on a Tesla Model S Plaid that we developed into a One Lap Of America racer (and several others internationally), and the hardest part was decoding all the important messages without a DBC, then fooling the car into thinking everything was still installed and happy using a standalone ECU in place of the air suspension ECU. We were able to refine that into a small module that can be updated via USB, but it still requires some wiring modifications.

One of the big reasons this is hard to sell as a consumer product is the over-the-air updates. One update that changes the DBC in any way can cause the truck to throw error codes left and right. We have had to log in remotely and help the racing teams running our air suspension delete modules update their modules a few times due to this.

We have also noticed that people are very concerned with keeping their warranty intact, which is totally understandable. It is going to take some time for these trucks to run out of warranty and end up in hands that want to do extreme modifications like this. Even simple things like our lowering/levelling/lift links seem to extreme for many owners, so I am doubtful about there being a business case for something exponentially more involved.

That being said, we are always open to ideas and projects, so never say never!
