Folks might call me a wimp, but when you use the spare, you're done for the day is my rule. Take the safest route to pavement and start prepping for your next adventure.

When I was working on military bases (natural resources work), they required that we carry two spares. I suppose people could do that if they are really going to get crazy, but I like the idea of carrying a plug kit for minor punctures and calling it a day if you can't repair your flat.
That said, I'm thinking you can fit a lot of water and an emergency kit in the gear tunnel should things go bad.

We need to open it up and photograph it all, but the air compressor accessory kit in the gear tunnel door had some sort of flat repair kit in it. This is in addition to our full sized spare under the bed.
