I'm definitely going to pick one of those up when I get closer to receiving my R1S, but my window is currently set for Apr-Jun '24 so I have plenty of time (unfortunately).

it’s a waste of money. Takes up valuable space. The rear windows are tinted enough that you really can’t see anything below the seat level behind the third row. A dark blanket would probably be better for obscuring cargo. Especially if it comes up above the bottom of the windows where the stock cover wouldn’t cover the cargo anyway.

Right and spending $85,000 on an electric golf cart is not a waste of money....

It’s a waste of money TO YOU. That doesn’t mean you know everyone else’s needs, wants, and financial situation.

Some people would say an R1T / R1S is a waste of money when they could buy a Gladiator / Wrangler or Santa Cruz / Tucson.

Tint isn’t going to stop most thieves with a flashlight. A blanket covering boxes is probably more of an invitation that the boxes alone. Cargo cover is the most subtle solution, but if I need to leave something in my R1S I’m putting it in the frunk.

Interesting how one interprets the primary purpose of the cargo cover.

For someone living in NYC, security purpose comes to mind first and foremost, based on this comment. For me, living in sunny SoCal, its really to shield from sunlight is the primary purpose - not obscuring the cargo.

Yes, a blanket would do that too but it will be fugly and when there is a made for purpose that look the part of the vehicle is an option, why go with fugly?

If someone is going to break-in, cargo cover, blanket or anything else is a moot point. It is not a deterrent.

I have one in our S and im glad we do. Our first overnight trip we didnt have it and felt we had to bring everything in to the hotel with us. Yes the windows are dark but with a flashlight you can see everything.

Has anyone purchased this cover from Amazon. It looks good and price isn't bad as compared to the Rivian branded cover ($119 vs $250 for Rivian cover). Hoping the price comes down further for Prime Day.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C4KHL7ZF

They make cargo covers for various vehicle brands and reviews seem to be >4 stars.

I didn't know there was an alternative to Rvian's.

For almost 1/3 the price, why not try it. If it doesn't work or you don't like it, its amazon so just return it.

If I'd not bought it already, and in possession of, I would definitely try it.

Yep. Waited till today to order in case there was a Prime Day deal. And lo and behold, 20% off. I’ll post my feedback once I get it. I opted for slow shipping for another 7% back on my Prime credit card.

Thanks for the heads up! Just grabbed one too. Heh originally was going to get the Rivian all-weather mats, cargo cover, and crossbars. At this point, it might just be the crossbars.
