Did you buy the Impact for your R1S? If so, any regrets? I have a GSD and I am looking to purchase one.
I did. Fits..but just barely. It's gonna rub the top if that's gonna bother you. My only regret is that my Bullmastiff is probably a bit too big at this point for lengthy stays in that size crate, so I end up having to bring my other crate folded up in the car anyway. If I went back I would seriously consider a seat harness for the second row.

I've got a Mim VarioCage Double XXL for our 2 German Shepherds. They're considerably more expensive than most other options but they fit great and - what I love most - the crate doesn't obstruct my rearward visibility. It did require a little effort on my part to eliminate a couple of rattles but that wasn't too difficult.

This last post TBH looks like a dog prison transport but is probably the most reasonable approach for someone trying to strictly contain their dogs to the third row. If your dog is not a German Shepard or won't be inclined/able to jump into the 2nd row, then just get a moving blanket from home depot to protect the interior. 3rd row vents work regardless of seat belt stuff now, just turn it on, though maybe not in Winter since apparently R1S's third row vents don't offer heat, just recirculated or cooled air.. If you have 2-3 kids, which is what this thread was initially about, I'm not sure I understand the reason for the question, because the dog obviously goes in the back with or without third row folded down depending, unless you are removing part of the 2nd row, or your dog is under 20 lbs and goes wherever a crate fits.

We still find hair from our labs even after 5+years! Tell your wife that my wife takes the dog in our Corvette, so the 911 should be fine. ?. Granted ours is only 35 lbs.

Extremely helpful! Thank you. I have a DXL kennel that fits perfectly in my old Audi Q5. Thinking about getting an R1S. My DXL is the same depth as your DXXL. Wondering... Is your DXXL fullly extended to max depth? Did you anchor your Double XXL against the 2nd row seat backs? If not, how much space is between the back of the kennel and the seat backs? I'm curious about this because from what I can gather the depth of the cargo area when 3rd row is down is 81" and the DXXL or DXL fully extended is about 40". That leaves 40" of space behind/in front of the kennel. Would love to know how you handled this. Thanks so much

Yes, the crate is extended to full depth and in contact with the 2nd row seat back (only at the top, as a comfortable seat back angle is not the same as the angle of the crate). The crate is also secured using the Rivian's tie down anchor points. A depth of 81" would be with both 2nd and 3rd row folded and is far more than with just the 3rd row folded. As installed, I am left with about 5-6" of space between the crate and tailgate when closed.

Thank you so much for your reply! Just what I wanted to know.
