My money's on the Central Gateway Module.

Me, dropping off my R1S because of a charging failure: "The forums say that it might be an issue with the Central Gateway Module"
Rivian manager: "OK, sure, whatever"

Rivian manager two weeks later: "So, we replaced the Central Gateway Module..."
???

utility quoted >150k to run the three phase line ~ 1 mile to the workshop; so instead we're shopping commercial properties with extant 3p.
Freewire unit. DCFC on a single phase hookup. BTW your 5-15 outlet isn't to code... :giggle:

update: onboard charging unit is FUBAR. part pt00048313-h

impressed with the great communications from Rivian service reps and Chicago center. They are also doing the 15k prostrate exam.

no ETA on a return. will throw a party.

Service added hood panel alignment to the ticket. Sadly The Count is sitting here surrounded by no R1S. BTW, it is a sad world where The Countess' 911 gets 40% better MPG than The Count's Fieldmaster.

well the service item list continues to grow (per the app).

checked off:
on board charger
hood
"bolted body components" (yes The Count has lost more undercarriage fasteners)

but new items, perhaps the result of asking for the 15k prostrate exam:
"cameras"
"rear suspension"
"inspection"

pretty excited to see progress. Meanwhile, as week #1 ends, tank #4 is in the Grenadier :(

Missed the call but had a voice mail from Rivian Chicago Service Center and my S is done.

I was expecting it to take longer given some of the experiences of others on the forum. I'll be so pleased to get it back. I'm curious about what else they found and repaired.

well reality of living in the clean air of God's Country, far from civilization, is setting in for The Count. You see, Rivian will not flatbed the R1S back to the hinterlands. So The Count's staff will need to retrieve it for him. The Count is so generous, as you know, that he is paying the staff's bus tickets. This involves one bus (aptly named "Lamers") to catch the Van Galder bus in Capital City to Union Station, Chicago. From there the staff member only needs to walk an hour to get to the service center.

The Count is generous allowing the staff to exercise on his time.

By “staff” does the Count mean the Royal Offspring? The heirs to the R1S throne.

R1S is home. Staff member, however, enjoyed driving it too much so he has been docked pay as well as given an eyeroll by The Count.

less that two weeks, not bad considering how far the service center is away. Service also found a leaky damper (replaced) and had to adjust cameras. They also attempted to fix the panel gap on the hood but it looks like it wasn't touched. They said it was "within spec."

All Rivian employees interacted with were professional and mostly competent. The Count offers an "A" grade all around.
