R1S garage fit - Hickory, NC

In the process of researching the purchase of an R1S. Currently have a reservation on R2, but not sure if I want to wait any longer.

Does anyone in the Hickory NC area have an R1S and be willing to help me see how it fits in my garage? That is my biggest concern deciding between the two suvs.

I would love to get the R1S but not sure if it will fit in my garage well. Any volunteers?

Yes, done that with tape measure! It definitely will fit. But I'd like to see how it fits and leaves space for walking, countertop, etc.

In the absence of a volunteer with an R1S, an extension of the tape measure suggestion is to use painters tape to mark the vehicles footprint on the garage floor. In the narrow walkways, you can even stack boxes etc along the tape line for more of a 3d visualization.

Don't forget to take the side mirrors into account. And, look at whether you can pull straight in, or have to do so on an angle. There are lots of ways to park accurately when pulling in straight, down to a few inches. I used a sound activated laser-target. There is also the good old tennis ball hanging from the ceiling.

Tennis ball method has been my go to. But its hard to replicate the space of opening doors and stuff.

Ultimately, I decided to just park in the driveway. Although I can get the truck in the garage beside my wife's Tesla M3, it is a lot less stressful in the driveway. I didn't make garage parking a requirement when I was shopping for the truck.

Thanks. Already done that. But blue tape doesn't take into account door swing angles, working at the countertop with hip and shoulder room, etc.

I know this is not an option for you, but having such a huge, cavernous garage that swallows quite a few cars is such a sweet, worry-free, fix-all .

I just took delivery of my 2025 R1S yesterday, and parking it was a bit challenging even though I had measured the length and width beforehand. My Tesla Model Y Performance already made the space tight, especially with three e-bikes, a barbecue, and shelving taking up room. The R1 does fit, but it’s not as comfortable as I’d hoped. Once the snow clears, I might consider keeping the Tesla outdoors to free up some space.
