When trying to use Highway Assist (Gen 1) It launches and immediately says the service will end soon and Highway Assist will be turned off.

I tried to use this on no less than 5 different freeways where it used to work. What gives? (no construction or closures)

Gen 1 has always sucked and will continue to suck since Rivian essentially no longer supports it. If you want better, comma.ai is your only hope for Gen 1.

Super helpful rant there @godfodder0901.

OP: I have never seen that message on my Gen 1. But if is always happening for you you might try an infotainment reset, followed by a full reset if that didn't help.

Then if the issue persists, contact support. You might have a failing sensor or something like that.

So, one sentence of accurate criticism, followed by a concert solution = rant now? Good to know...

Yeah, you should have at least told the OP to trade in for a gen2 first, sheesh.

One sentence of totally off-topic criticism you mean, followed by an non-solution. "Use comma" solves nothing if e.g. this was caused by a sensor problem. Telling the OP to trade in his Rivian for a Tesla would be just as helpful. As in, not helpful at all.

Your "solution" reminds me of this:

I went to the doctor. I said "Doctor, it hurts when I do that."
He says, "Don't do that!”

― Henny Youngman

Yes, it's a rant when you jump into a thread just to make the same complaints you keep making elsewhere, and to make the same unsubstantiated claims like Gen 1 is no longer supported.

Not unsubstantiated at all. See the recent comments RJ made where he called it 'throw away'...

The bottom line is that you didn't find it helpful. That doesn't mean it wasn't. And the only real support OP will get is parts replacement, but that support is finite. His only sustainable option for decent ADAS in Gen 1 is Comma, full stop.

When available, the lanekeep on my gen 1 T works great. Initially, our truck had gps interference issues causing it to claim that autonomy was never available. Your symptom might be different as it sounds like it turns on for you but only momentarily.

is there anything (accessory) mounted near the spoiler? That is where all the antennas, including gps are.

Still troubleshooting this, after multiple reboots and updates. I have a service appointment booked in a few weeks from now.

What I discovered this morning, Highway Assist immediately disengages if there are no hands on the steering wheel. Previously (months ago) it would give you a reminder to keep hands on the wheel. 1 hand is enough to keep it operating, but 0 hands will end the service. Is this anyone else's experience?

I wonder if the capacitive sensor(s) in the steering wheel are failing if it doesn't seem to be detecting you holding the wheel. If you haven't, be sure to include that in your service request.

Yes if you ignore the warnings about taking control, it now disables itself for the rest of the driving session. I made that mistake once recently when it warned me to take control coming up and I waited for it to disconnect and hand control back to me. You have to immediately tap the lever, brake or move the steering wheel to retain future use.

Well I don't even get a warning to put my hands on the steering wheel, it just immediately goes to disengagement, and yes if you don't disengage you can't use until stopped AND the door opens (learned by trying).
