I actually really like my R1S, but I'm always wanting to try something new. I originally wanted an R1T, but the wife talked me out of it. I also have a day 1 preorder for the R2. So what has happened? Turns out I love the size of the R1 platform, and I'm not sure the R2 will be enough.

I'm pretty sure I want to try the R1T, but I've never owned a truck. I am sure I would use the bed a lot, I am a unabashed home improvement nerd and always have projects going. I am also an avid mountain biker, so I like the idea of tossing the bike over the tailgate (with the proper pad of course) to go for a ride.

I have driven SUVs since 1991, but man I love the idea of the R1T. I hardly ever have more than 2 people in my vehicle, but I am concerned about comfort of the back seat for the times I do have more people. I will have to find a local R1T to test drive, but convince me! Tell me why I should absolutely buy the R1T over another R1S or even the R2.... :)

The back seats are plenty for an adult. The only reason I went the other way, R1T to R1S, is that my two large dogs didn't fit well in the cab with my son. If you don't have that concern, the truck is excellent. The gear tunnel is a welcome addition, and the suspension was originally developed for the T, so it handles really well.

The other nice thing about the truck is that it isn't too big. You can't go wrong with the truck or the SUV.

I've driven SUVs since the 90s and this is my first truck. I love it! I use the gear tunnel every day and love having all the extra hidden lockable space in the bed (with a tonneau cover on).

If your lease is up in March and you can swing it, you may want to talk to Rivian about getting the truck now (a few months early) as Rivian may let you out of the lease since they want to move trucks this month.

Love my R1T but I do miss having enclosed interior space for dogs and such. I would miss the gear tunnel but I"m considering replacing my R1T with and R2 since I miss my 2000 4Runner a lot.

They keep saying I can pay the last few months and turn it in early, but no deals have been offered.

If really not sure and getting pushback from DW... consider looking at a preowned R1T coming off lease.

R1T is our first truck. Use the bed for various small loads, and mostly taking my mountain bike.

Sounds like you are doing a pretty good job of convincing yourself already. Unless you really need the third row, I believe the R1T is the better choice. I've had 3 slim adults in the back seat for a road trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. They did fine.

1) The R1T has a better ride than the R1S. Most of the pitching the early R1S had over bumps has been tuned out via software updates, but the R1T's longer wheelbase still rules.

2) You will love the gear tunnel. Handy accessible storage and a seat for putting on your boots.

3) The bed is more useful for me than a third row. I don't have to worry about whether my load is a little messy.

4) The stereo bass sounds better in the R1T because the subwoofer is placed in the corner of a cabin with smaller volume.

5) You can easily carry a full sized spare.

There's my pitch. I really think you can't go wrong either way.
