Kyle doesn’t have insider info. He talks a big game. I’m sure he has access to insiders to provide direct feedback, but there’s no way a public company would give insider info to a video blogger. It would have considerable legal repercussions. As for your own video, unless you have real info, I’m going to pass watching.

I know quite a lot of people that work in the auto industry, and they are almost always very tight lipped about stuff they have access to that's not public knowledge. If what I am being told isn't info I expect to see other places, they know to trust me to not disseminate it further. I don't think anyone should trust Kyle to not do the same thing though since his business is sharing info.

I'm considering it because of towing and long term battery degradation but it's a hard sell for sure. 200miles towing instead of 175 doesn't sound so impressive does it? Is the 400 miles in all purpose or conserve? I can't recall what people said but I don't think the dual motor has a conserve mode. It's just automatic one or two motor mode so there is no "better"
DM can engage/disengage rear motor on the fly. According to RJ its disengaged above 20mph unless requested power or traction dictate it is needed. Basically its driving around in conserve above 20 mph.

My Quad R1T displays a range of 347 miles on a full charge in conserve mode.

Towing generally spraking about half so 58 miles on the T best probably 26-27 miles additional towing range. S like 24 ish miles.

One big benefit though would be if you did a lot of off grid camping. Its a significant amount of additional energy.

At the end of the day its a personal decision if you feel its worth the upcharge.

Thx. I'll bet if you put it in snow mode or off road it will stay locked. Hard to say about tow mode but I'm hoping it would disconnect to help range.
I think it'll be the large pack and maybe go for the performance option. None of them qualify for the tax credit which is a bummer.

Ugh! I just can't wrap my head around 2.5x the price for the Max battery and only 12% more range. I'll still have to stop the same number of times to charge on towing trips so I guess that answers it.

Now performance or standard?

You are correct it is disproportionately more costly for less kwh gain. It should be the opposite way around.
It is however closer to 14% more overall.
& 23% more miles between 20-80% SOC of the DM Large if that is your charging window.
Is it worth the time to charge those additional 50ish miles?
Is it worth the extra for towing, long term degradation, one's personal use case?
it certainly is not a bargain.

I ended up with the large pack and then sprung for the performance dual. Not sure why as it's not really a "fast" vehicle. I think 500-900hp in a 112mph SUV is silly. I like the option to lock it AWD if the front wheel drive is annoying so sport would do that and maybe a resale value thing. I suppose I could have the regular dual drive in off-road mode on paved mountain roads for the same effect. I'm hoping "sand" mode is not a sandbox mode and will get rid of the traction control somewhat. There are to many times off-road where you want power applied.

My wife may want snow mode with less Regen and power for a more normal car experience. Anyway adventure awaits

OP, you didn’t get a delivery date estimate from Rivian did you? I am trying to figure out where max pack orders fit into the existing order hierarchy. My reservation is from February 2022 and then I just reconfigured with the max pack when it became available.

None yet, still waiting. I think the all terrain package with max pack is being built? This is my config. I’m not seeing any max pack + all terrain in the Shop either.

So just waiting ?

When did you place this order? Just curious. My wife has been driving our R1S, which we plan to ship to Kona in the coming months, and I think she's becoming reluctant to part with it. Her current daily driver is a 2020 Model 3 Performance and it's been sitting unused for a couple months now. I'm wondering if she wants to sell that and buy another R1S so just trying to get a sense of the lead times on new orders.

Her current daily driver is a 2020 Model 3 Performance and it's been sitting unused for a couple months now. I'm wondering if she wants to sell that and buy another R1S so just trying to get a sense of the lead times on new orders.
My reservation was in Apr 2022, config locked last month.
