I outfitted a lot of company service cars like that in the early 2000s.
yeah, now that I'm on the road and using it more frequently, I think I might want to figure out another system for mounting the monitor to the dash, next to the R1S screen. I also got an iPad that I can use as a second monitor with sidecar. Use that at coffee shops and libraries, but not yet using it with the mac mini in the passenger seat itself. Rivian Connect+ continues to be useful for lightweight internet tasks. About to stress test it by uploading some youtube videos....

There was a little storage cubby in the dash of the Gen 2 Prius that fit the Mac mini of the era perfectly:

And obviously, people figured out how to tap into the touchscreen to control it.

(Yes, Apple "CarPlay" with video playback 20 years before Apple added it.)

"And this actually fits here...pretty well". [Unit proceeds to fall 5 times]

Haha, thought that was funny. That's a good setup. I sometimes use my laptop just in my car sitting in the passenger seat OR in the 3rd row with the 2nd row partially down so I can stick my legs out and relax.

LOL, yeah...I'm using the Monitor in the magnetic folio on my lap desk for now. I have to tilt my head down to look at it, which isn't ideal, but I suppose that isn't any worse ergonomically than every other laptop I've used in the past.

I got this portable monitor tripod which works so awesome at coffee shops but there aren't very good places to set it down while in the R1S front seat.

I'm reminded of the Dilbert strip from the 90s where Dilbert and another engineer face off with all of the various electronics on their belt. Which certainly was me in the 90s. Apple Newton! Wireless fax!
