Have you found any problems with lack of ventillation?

I haven't, but I really haven't used it for more than an hour so far. It didn't seem hot in there (and that was with the "lid" in "ramp" mode. Most of the time when I use it I'm going to leave the "lid" off because I'll want direct access to it when it's in use - does that make sense?

Just got back from my first real use of the subtrunk freezer. It was a 2-hour drive and I put my temperature logger in the subtrunk with it:

The arrow is pointing to the BlueMaestro temp disc. The fridge was open to the trunk of the R1S because I loaded it after putting everything else in the trunk, and the temp in the subtrunk after running the fridge for two hours was 90 degrees (with the interior of the R1S at 72):

I'm happy to say that it fit my needs perfectly - it held 4 half-gallon tubs of ice cream for the drive home from Penn State:

Oh yes - and it's amazing! Penn State started as an agricultural school and retains those roots. I'm guessing you've heard of these guys: Ben & Jerry's

I’ve been to their factory in VT. It was awesome!

All of the dual zones I looked at were too big for the subtrunk and I already have a 45L dual zone that I use when I need space. With that said...

I seriously considered the Iceco APL35 (which is dual zone) as featured in this thread: Best Portable Fridge Setup for R1S

The 35QT was too small for when I need a big cooler and, while it looks like it sits in the subtrunk, it doesn't "disappear" completely (like mine does) when not in use and someone posted that you can't open the lid completely while it's in the subtrunk (Edit: I just reread the thread and I don't think the lid opening issue was with the Iceco model). [Another edit: It WAS the Iceco APL35 where you couldn't open the lid while it sat in the subtrunk]
