It's great to see the RIS SUV come out. However, every time I look at the design I wish the top were taller and looked more like this. Top has a cramped look to me, but I eagerly await the release nonetheless!

Then it looks too much like a Range Rover to me. If you're worried about headroom, videos have shown that there'll be plenty of head clearance - Rivian Short Film: Looking For Powder

Here's a side by side with the Range Rover. To me, there's a meaningful difference. I haven't loved the Range Rover look since 1995 And just my two cents on the design look- I'm sure people are bumping their heads on the roof. The proportions just seem off.

They really have to keep drag coefficients in mind as well. You don’t want to reduce that 400 mile range down to 250 just because you have a taller cabin. I agree with above as well, it looks like from the videos that people have plenty of headroom.

Both short roof and tall roof designs look very cool to me. Like someone said, the tall roof is very Rover-like. That's not a bad thing to me.

Maybe the taller roof model will be a new model for 2024? The new R2S?

That tall cabin and lower belt line give it a somewhat retro feel (like a Bronco or Wrangler) which feels inconsistent with the otherwise ultra modern high tech image IMHO. If you've ever driven around in a Jeep it gets thrown around in the wind especially at highway speed. As someone else mentioned range would take a big hit.

With the longer stretch (as opposed to the taller mockup) the glass roof "opens up" the feel on the inside. In the demo ski adventure video Rivian had it was packed full of people but looked like they had plenty of space.
With the size of the batteries I don't know if there is space to shorten the wheelbase.

If Shaq fits, and he does, there's plenty of room. There are several posts showing Shaq in a Rivian and there's room to spare. At least 3-4" of headroom and he didn't fiddle with adjusting the seat when he climbs on board. https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/shaq-fits-in-r1t.185/
