R1T charger amp compatibility

We own a Tesla Model S and have an R1T delivery date for Sept and planning a charger install this July. The charger I landed on is the ZEF ENERGY Pro 80amp (240v AC) with J-plug. Will the Rivian pull more than 48amps or is that the limit?

You got the correct answer on max amperage. The Tesla chargers for the older model S could pull up to 80 amps. They did this by having dual onboard chargers. The F150 lightning charges faster but I am not sure the technology behind that....but with the V2G it may be something different.

Most EV sold today max out at 48 amps on Level 2 AC charging. Not sure how much the install is costing you over a 48 amp charger but it may be better to go with the smaller 60 amp circuit for a 48 amp charger vs. the 100amp circuit that would be required for an 80 amp charger.

It's a charging desert there and I purchased a double 80A charger on dedicated circuits. Hoping it'll help other EV owners when they're there.
