Helene caused some flooding that caused an e-bike battery to ignite in the garage. I already have a Gen2 order in. Statefarm offered $52K for a Max Pack Dual Motor Performance with 12K miles. Does this seem right?

No, that's low ball. What's the VIN (-last 5 digits) or year? I'll get you wholesale sales history.

Tampa e-bike fire... You don't happen to be on Davis Island, do you?

Seems low. Kelly Blue Book is $60-65k. Plug your vin in to their website and send it to your agent.

Damn, this sucks. I paid $97K in February for this vehicle. I figured I would get $70-80K.

$52k is low even by wholesale standards. But you should get $56-60k. I don't know if the VIN captures the motors/batteries, but here's what the auctions are seeing:

Good article on insurance and ACV. That seems really low to me. Maybe see if your policy as a "right of Appraisal Clause" and consider evoking that. That's where you get a 3rd party appraiser to evaluate it. Heck you could even use the Rivian trade-in tool would likely give you a higher amount than 52k. Lastly, you could ask your insurance company for "justification" of their current estimate.

Ask your insurance company for a copy of the total loss report that they used. There are a few companies that all insurance companies use for total loss.

Check the comps that they used, make sure they're local to you, similar options, miles, etc. Make sure the vehicles are sold at a dealership and not private party. Then go online and find your vehicle for sale and send them those listings.

My first guess is they used a large battery comp and not max battery dual performance. I used to work at an insurance company and learned from co-workers about the total loss process. Will try to give you some pointers if you get that report. Do not cash any check they send, as that pretty much says "I accept this offer"

My recent experience in settlement negotiations with the insurance company was that they would not consider "For Sale" listings as market data... only closed transactions which are harder for the normal person to acquire. Their argument was that nobody paid asking price in a For Sale listing. Very frustrating process... good luck to you.
