I think color matters some. I've seen very few Red, Yellow, Blue - and based on the various polls for people's orders, Blue isn't an rare config color (often a 4 way tie for 3rd behind white and gray)

I’ve seen a ton of Rivian. It’s the second most common color I’ve seen, behind Launch Green.

Chat with CS and they can tell you the current delivery window on your reservation or if it’s now TBD.

I just did, and was told a few things:

There are still emails waiting to go out, so if you haven't gotten one yet that doesn't mean you're definitely pushed into 2023.

She said she was still seeing my original delivery window, but that was subject to change by the email.

I could not get her to commit to -any- timeline for R1S customer deliveries, I asked several times about R1S deliveries specifically, but she would only repeat that new windows had already been sent out, more would be forthcoming.

I could not get her to type anything specific about R1S.

Same pre-order date as well.

Configu is similar just with LA Silver option and no underbody shield.

The items on my list are subject to physical product inventory constraints. Not true as far as I know for paint.

That said, 100% could be true that due to batching there are very slight delays on the order of a few days to weeks for uncommon color combos. Just not the several months to years delay for some of the other order properties like Explore Max (my original order from 8/20).

I swapped from a Max Explore to a Large / Adventure / BM and my delivery window only went from 23H1 to Nov/Dec 22.

If I don't see a very close match in my Shop window I'll likely swap back to a Max and just wait the extra 6 months.

If my window had jumped way up I'd have stuck with the large pack.

Pre-ordered 8/2020 and seems I'm still behind most 2021 Adventure / Large orders. Thanks Rivian!

Supposedly, all else being equal (ie same location), invites purely based on order date

I went from Oct-Dec. to July-Aug. but even more hilarious - I have a truck with a VIN and delivery is scheduled for next Sat. June 18th - the truck is already paid for.

Same ... I updated configuration from OC to black interior and 21's on 5/27 and got a VIN in a week. 8 steps are complete, delivery is Tuesday 6/14. So excited, I am taking the rest of the day off to just drive around town! Anywho, email says Your Adventure package R1T estimated delivery window is July - August 2022. Soooo ... I'll wait for delivery before I cancel my first mile drive scheduled for 6/23.

Punt it.. lock in the manual tonneau config, best of both worlds IMO.

I dunno man. I haven’t seen a single manual tonneau delivered. I also haven’t seen one with no tonneau.

Honestly, I’d rather Rivian get the bugs sorted.

From what we've seen and heard so far, the current powered tonneau has a single drive motor on one side with an extended driveshaft reaching across to the other side of the bed.
Most likely insufficient torque from that single motor is the issue when the tracks get dirty or some distortion due too extreme temps is present. One resolution would be to add a second motor to the other side and let the two motors work together (still employing the side-to-side driveshaft for synchronization). That will take time to redesign and refit... but the manual tonneau option would simply just need a redesigned headboard cover that covers the nesting slot. That same headboard cover would be used for the "no tonneau" option trucks.
I couldn't imagine a redesigned headboard cover that covers the panel retraction opening would take a few days at most to redesign and have a production mold formed.
My money is on "manual or no tonneau" being produced before a proper 100% reliable/long term fix for the current powered tonneau system is in place/installed on new vehicles.

Yeah I’d have my truck now. I had to delay 2 weeks as I am away. The countdown starts. T minus 6 days.
It will be a Father’s Day weekend to remember.
