Hmm...31" of rear leg room is a bit concerning. But I'm not sure this is how it's measured as a standard spec. If it is, that's surprisingly small considering the Tesla MY is listed at 40".
Typically rear legroom is based on a uniform setting of the front seats (I want to say 40" from gas pedal or something like that). The value given here alone may not tell the full story, and may not be what the official reader legroom comes in at.

I've done a fair bit of looking at that because we have 2 tall boys, and SUVs typically are with 38"-43."

Our old CX-5 was ~39.5" and our EV9 is ~42.5"

So 31" would be extremely small.

The baseline for all SUVs should be if it can fit a sheet of plywood!
For "full size" SUV's, yes... but the R2 is not a "full size" SUV, it's a shrunken version of the R1S.

I for one am only interested in the R2 because it is not a full sized SUV.

The Telo Truck is small and light but can fit a full sheet of plywood.

All I see on their site is the pickup?
These are just proposed designs so we will have to see what is actually offered.
The base truck model already has a foot well / gear tunnel for a third row and it would be easy to put a top on the rear so there is a good probability of this configuration appearing.
(These renders are under "Configurations" on their site.)

^ hard to speculate on something that's only a drawing at this point, and even their pickup truck isn't a production vehicle yet. My WAG is that this company will not make it to the production phase.

Look at Fisker, they actually produced (via contractor Magna) and delivered vehicles to customers yet still went under.

Yes, you are right that it will be a difficult road to actual production.
All they have now is a few prototypes and designs.
(Actually, that's all that Rivian has now for the R2 and R3 but Rivian is an established - but money losing company)

We'll just have to see what happens with both Rivian and Telo.
I do hope that they both get to production.

Most people are familiar with the old Jeep Grand Cherokee dimensions as a ā€œstandardā€ midsize SUV. Assuming apples to apples, here’s a comparison:

Yes! I literally use car sized.com and compare everything to the older Jeep Grand Cherokee. That’s the perfect size for my needs.

Keep in mind that rear leg room is usually measured with the front seat adjusted all the way forward. This being a display model there is a good chance the front seats were moved back to allow people a good view of the front area of the car which is what most people would be looking at.

Really disappointed they didn’t allow for an optional third row - even a tiny one like the Lexus GX and RR sport have. I could have used that to justify getting an r2 - wife definitely thinks it’s silly to have two R1S and we will be looking to trade in her GLS in 2026 or 2027. Guess I won’t be getting a new Rivian until the gen 3 r1s 😭. Also sad to see they didn’t put the rails and sliding anchors/tie downs in the r2 either and got rid of the accessory port dual hitches but it’s a moot point unless I can figure out a justification for a third car.
