All of the release press indicated an EPA rating of 3.75mi/kwh, a roughly 50% improvement over R1Hi All,
Had anyone heard, or has Rivian disclosed, what sort of efficiency the R2 will do (roughly)? I've not seen anything but I assume its going to be better than the R1.
Cheers
I don't see that number anywhere on Rivian's site, or in their press release... is there some other place where a Rivian employee has officially stated a number? All of the release press indicated an EPA rating of 3.75mi/kwh, a roughly 50% improvement over R1
It was referenced in several of the videos, but the R2 site specifically states a 330 mile EPA estimated range and we know the battery size, so the rest is just math. There has been no announcements, but you can do some quick math from the uncovered battery size (87.5 kWh) and EPA range estimate (330 miles), you get about 3.7 mi/kWh.

Yeah, but that's not "press releases are stating an EPA rating of 3.75....". That's us doing math. While it's a good and resonable guess, it's not an official number from Rivian. It was referenced in several of the videos, but the R2 site specifically states a 330 mile EPA estimated range and we know the battery size, so the rest is just math.
This is great for a rounded box on wheels. The lower roofline, rounded rear quarter panels, and hidden aero spoiler really made a difference. All of the release press indicated an EPA rating of 3.75mi/kwh, a roughly 50% improvement over R1
Technically they said “indicated” not “stated”, I assumed their number was deduced…Yeah, but that's not "press releases are stating an EPA rating of 3.75....". That's us doing math. While it's a good and resonable guess, it's not an official number from Rivian.
Syntax is important here. I specifically said "release press" not "press release."Yeah, but that's not "press releases are stating an EPA rating of 3.75....". That's us doing math. While it's a good and resonable guess, it's not an official number from Rivian.
Wow, my brain reversed the two words in your post. This crazy morning at work is not helping my brain out at all...Syntax is important here. I specifically said "release press" not "press release."
"Release press" as in, all of the press coverage at the launch event when the information was allowed by Rivian to be released as opposed to a "press release" which is an official statement from Rivian for the press.

Sure... assuming both vehicles have same platform and motor efficiency. Waste of time to speculate or cast doubt. The actual numbers will be out eventually.I'm a bit skeptical about the 3.7mi/kWh number, even though it's mathematically accurate - my Tesla Model S barely reaches 3.8mi/kWh, despite having a similar weight, a smaller frontal area, and a much better drag (0.208 vs 0.3).
