Does anyone know if there's a way to trigger Siri Shortcuts that are set up on my iPhone via the Rivian Assistant?

Example - I have an app on my phone that opens a gate. It doesn't work with HomeLink. I created a Siri Shortcut to open it. If I'm connected to any vehicle via CarPlay, I can press the button on the steering wheel, voice the command, and it opens. No need to open the app on my phone.

Without CarPlay, is there still a way to do this via Rivian? Thanks.

Short answer Google ≠ Apple

Rivian Assistant is built off of Google's Gemini AI. Unless Rivian work with both tech giants to make certain integration possible, do not expect cross compatibility between products and platforms of two completely separate tech companies who are only interested in supporting and building their own ecosystem of products.

You still have your iPhone (and/or Apple Watch) with/on you. In absence of CarPlay, you can still "Hey, Siri" and do everything Apple allow you to.

There are R1 owners that have successfully created Siri Shortcuts to trigger the Rivian app functions. If you can do it in the app, you might be able to create a shortcut.

Saw this too, but it's not a Rivian function that I need to create a shortcut for. It's a function for another app on my phone that already has a shortcut. Was just trying to see if there was a way to trigger that shortcut via the Rivian. I'll check to see if the app "works with google" but I'm not sure if that'll work either.

I’m sure you know this, but couldn’t you just verbalize it? ā€œHey Siti- open the garage door.ā€
I’ve got the IOS 27 dev beta on my phone and Siri is much improved

Rivian does not support or use Homelink. It has its own software-defined radio that can be programmed to open gates and garage doors. Chances are your gate will just work, so no need to find a workaround for this situation.
