Mine is being flatbedded to service later this morning. When I have the energy/desire to do a full write up or video I will. The car hasn’t been rendered immobile so theoretically I could keep driving it, it’s just been exhibiting some very weird and unsettling behavior since getting it back from service yesterday (lol, I know). The thing that sort of sealed the deal as far as losing confidence in the car was when I chatted with the AI assistant to get these “gremlins” looked at, it showed as throwing all sorts of codes including something airbag related.
Rivian R1T R1S R2 teething/early issues -- Talk about your post-delivery concerns or headaches IMG_2345

It feels to me more like a module is failing and just throwing a bunch of codes for systems it is responsible for rather than there being real issues across those systems, but I don’t want to drive it and find out right now. Losing confidence in the car you have been looking forward to for years after 2 weeks is not an experience or feeling I wish on anyone here. I’ll try to keep everyone updated, good or bad.

My biggest head scratcher from my test drive was how they thought that charge door was acceptable. It feels horrible and cheap, and now the misalignments are going to be what non-Rivian owners see when they check out the cool new SUV next to them. Completely boggles my mind. They had the Model Y to learn from for years. I’m still getting the launch edition but I just don’t understand this choice
They were too busy designing the "Easter egg" maze on the inside of the door, that literally nobody is going to give a second thought.

Ugh, that sucks. Interesting that it started happening after the service visit. Maybe a connector got bumped loose somewhere? Feels kinda like an intermittent connection...

Definitely feels that way. I was the lucky first R2 to be serviced at my center, so probably a lot of learnings to come.

I get that, but when the Model Y is your reference and main competitor, I would’ve made that thing a little more substantial
Disagree. A lot of us wouldn't touch a MY with a 10 foot pole. Personally, I want an off-road capable EV so I can get away from archaic and anemic Wranglers and Broncos. I could care less about the charge port door.

Can we please stop with the chargeport door nonsense in this thread? Make a new thread if you want to debate the merits of the chargeport door.
It was noted as a delivery issue, the topic of the thread. No one is forcing you to read it. Not trying to be a jerk but this is how forums work....

It is plastic, and it does feel cheap, but other than German OEM, most are plastic doors. The Tesla doors are plastic too. Granted they open and close automatically, so one doesn’t interact with them much.

Just think how much weight they saved using plastic and how much steel they reduced (that has a 50% tarriff on it) by using plastic?
They saved a whole quarter lb per car. Wow, I'm sure that increased the range 50 miles. Come on man, they could make a non cheap ass charge door.

If you have an actual alignment issue or operation issue with the door sure, but there are about a billion posts about how people do or don't like the "feel" of it. That's a design decision, not a defect or issue. If I don't like the feel of the steering wheel should I post here? Or maybe I find the choice of available colors to be a bit disappointing. Should I post here?

That's not what this thread is supposed to be about.

I know I’m an ESL but I think most ppl reading that knew it was a humorous joke about weight and cost savings ?

There seem to be quite a few misalignment straight out of the gate. That is not good and speaks to its design.
