Gotta say that, even though I love the brand, car manufacturing under a tent doesn’t sound good. I understand though and I know that there are a lot of very smart people at Rivian so I trust their judgement ?
This is actually a really shrewd move I think. Tesla did exactly that when they ran into serious space bottlenecks as they were ramping up. It adds temporary manufacturing/finishing space to be able to produce multiple vehicles with very much reduced cost over building a new plant. It adds onsite capacity where there wasn’t before. I’m actually really encouraged and was hoping they would do this very thing?

Drove by the plant on the way for kid's sporting stuff. There is now a LARGE long white tent on the north side of the building that wasn't there a month ago when I last drove by. PURE speculation, but guessing lots of interesting things going on under the tent.

Also saw a higher proportion of R1's along with EDVs in the rail lot so good to see units are still getting shipped out from sales.
Don't get too excited, it's likely storage. Those sorts of buildings are not suited to being a factory, no matter what elon says
