More states are tacking on new fees to EV charging. And this administration seems intent on not simply “treating gas and EV drivers as equals” but by actually punishing EV drivers for their choice both in real economic terms by extra Federal and state fees but in a stream of anti-EV rhetoric as well. The cost of cheap propaganda and pandering to the oil industry and gas car loyalists will be handing over the automotive future directly to China.
Some fee is reasonable to make up for lost gas tax revenue.

Public charging pricing fluctuates like the wind. There are so many variables that impact it not surprised to read it went up here down there and maybe from dollars to pounds.

Seems to me that for the most part RAN prices have gone DOWN from their high point recently. At least for the ones I've looked at.

Regardless, prices vary by location, and are subject to change. Don't be surprised if they change again next week.

Rivian needs to actually make a profit to stay in business. They haven't been good at doing that, if you haven't taken notice.

Let them have higher RAN prices. I use EA considerably and I rarely pay less than $.55 a kWh so keep things in perspective.

While planning our camping trip to Oregon on Thursday 5/22, it was $.44, and I was planning on charging at Ukiah and Fortuna RAN, and then Friday 5/23, both RAN went up $.54, so I bypass both RAN and instead went for fast charger on ChargePoint for free, (who doesn’t want free electrons!) and then head to Tesla SC in Arcata for $.49, sure, some might say, it’s only $.05, if I can find a charging station that is less expensive along my route, that’s where I’ll be charging.

After looking at some more RAN prices, it looks like Rivian has been feeling the sting of too high of prices and bringing them back to market. Manteca and Sacramento was the best deal around, but they are moving them up to current rates in the area.
On May 8th, I went from Joshua Tree to the Bay Area. Joshua Tree, Buttonwillow, Firebaugh, and Santa Nella were at $0.63 while Barstow was at $0.64/kWh. Looking today, they have lowered their rates: Santa Nella - $0.54, Firebaugh - $0.52, Buttonwillow - $0.55, Barstow - $0.56, and Joshua Tree - $0.58/kWh.
I am super lucky to have home electricity rates at just a little over 0.08 a kWh in Newport OR, and of course exclusively charge at home...until I don't have enough turn around time. I had to do a rare charge at a RAN in Lincoln City OR last week, and had an "Oh MY" moment to pay 0.54/kwh. So when I see the rates you had to pay, I guess I feel maybe a little more OK :/

Me too! Where was the ChargePoint fast charger that you found for free? That is awesome!

This didn't just start with this administration, unfortunately started with previous administration...

@Florida Panhandler and @TCapri: I'm not sure either of you is justified blaming state policies on either the current or prior federal administration. State legislators have their own problems to solve, especially with decreasing support from Washington DC.

In Washington State, we're now paying an extra $250 above regular registration fees for each of our BEVs, regardless of miles driven. That's the work of a legislature heavily dominated by Democrats. I don't think it's fair -- but SOMEONE has to pay for fixing the roads.

The escalating anti-environment rhetoric in the other Washington cannot lead to anything good, in my opinion -- but only some of today's EV taxes are meant to poison the planet carelessly. Others are well-intentioned and clumsy responses to a real financial problem.

Best to all!

This isn't President's day weekend. It's Memorial Day and it honors those who have died for our country. Failing to properly remember them is a bigger injustice than any charging price increase.
Calm down. OP cited President’s Day as first price increase then Memorial Day as second price increase. Take your time and read OP’s posts first before attacking people.

The Mercedes Benz network appears to under cut the non-Tesla membership rate at most SC locations. Bucees has both MB and Tesla SC at many locations now, so I am planning my stops at Bucees whenever I can.

we were waiting for Chik Fil A to open @ 06:30, but we got there 10 minutes early, so I started looking around if there’s a charging station, sure enough, I found it by mistake, so instead of waiting for chik fil A to open, why not charge for 10 mins, ABC = Always Be Charging. We ended up charging for 20 mins, bypass Ukiah RAN, and charge in Arcata SC.

It’s located in Grafton Resort & Casino, 2nd floor main parking structure, in Rohnert Park, so don’t tell anyone, 🤣🤣🤣🤫.
