The Rivian Adventure Network (RAN) reached a round milestone of 1,000 individual DC fast-charging stalls.

1,000+ Stalls

According to the Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC), the RAN network has 148 locations and 1,007 stalls. The Rivian Roamer tracker, which appears to be more accurate, indicates 149 locations and 1,017 stalls.

A year ago at this point, RAN had just over 700 stalls, so the growth is 40% year-over-year. On average, the network has 6.8 stalls per location (up from 6.3 a year ago). The peak power is often 300 kW.

The RAN remains one of the largest DC fast-charging networks in the US, and 97% of its locations (144 out of 149) are open to non-Rivian EVs.

Simultaneously, Rivian is expanding the number of NACS connectors. They are available at close to 50 locations (166 stalls or 16% of all). At six locations (one more since we checked), there are only NACS charging connectors (no CCS1), which is unusual in the industry (excluding Tesla Superchargers).

The Rivian Adventure Network is expected to continue growing, especially after the company recently secured a contract with Caruso for 150+ chargers.

According to the DCFC Tracker, the average cost of charging at RAN is $0.55/kWh, slightly above the industry average.

I am not sure about the slightly part. Just checked a random location along I5. Tesla had time based pricing, usually lower by 20 cents per kW, but higher by same amount during peak hours. So it averages out, but one could pay significantly less with Tesla during certain hours or vice versa. Now, I wouldn't go to a Tesla charger, but Ionna happened to be in that location and they were 13 cents lower, flat rate. It's good to have options, but they may be pricing themselves out.

There is currently a mistake on Rivian Roamer's site, where it lists the new 10-stall Independence, MO RAN charger TWICE. If you remove this mistake, then the Rivian Roamer number agrees with AFDC. 148 locations, 1,007 stalls.

This is an issue with Rivian, they for some reason published it twice. It will self-fix shortly. :)

This number is the average cost for NON-RIVIAN vehicles. It's not wrong, but because this is a Rivian forum, the more relevant number for the members here is how much do RAN chargers cost RIVIAN drivers. The price for Rivian owners is typically about 15% lower than the price offered to the general public.

You can calculate it yourself using the table on Rivian Roamer's site. This is what you will get:

RAN Charger rates:

The median peak price for Rivian owners (half are less, half are greater) is $0.47
The average peak price for Rivian owners is $0.485

When there is time based pricing, I used the HIGHER (peak) price, as that is the the price most people will pay.

The median and average rate for Rivian owners has not changed since I last did this analysis in January. https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...map-operational-this-month.54807/#post-931123

And just for fun, let me note that gasoline prices have increased more than 55% since that January post (12 Jan $2.665 USA avg, 1 Jun $4.138 USA avg, according to https://www.eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/)

Let me guess, 90% of the new chargers are in California within a few miles of existing RAN chargers. ;)

Crickets in the far northern planes and in a wide band along the Ohio river to the Mississippi. And everyone always forgets about Alaska and Hawaii.

This is great news. Hopefully their prices come down someday. Is that the Rivian price or the non-Rivian price? IONNA is making headway and Walmart is installing their own charging network now, too. We’re going to be spoiled for choice in the next few years.

90% of EVs are also in California. 😁

As soon as anyone in the northern plains buys one I'm sure the charging industry will take notice. :giggle:
