I am doing it. My local PPF shop is an XPEL dealer and they didn’t question it at all when I said I wanted to add it. I’m doing front bumper (whole front area down to tow hooks) and headlights and rear bumper. Nothing else. Not trying to spend a fortune, just protect some key impact areas.

Question: I have typically done "full frontal" coverage which includes front bumper, hood, sides around front wheels back to start of door, and side mirrors. But that was on sedans. Is the front hood not needed because of R2s and R1S shape (i.e. little risk of rock chips)?

Some of the only rock chips I have on my R1S are on th leading edge of the hood. If you're doing ppf, I wouldn't skip the hood

20 minutes of work? Brother no way 😬
For what I am referring to yes. At most it’s a piece that 1 x 4. I have installed PPF before. 20min is generous and could be done in 10 by an expert.

Edit: if you are referring to what @sparked mentioned below than I renege. The PPF in the link above is the entire rear bumper, the whole gloss black piece, not just some small strip on the top. That is what I was referring to.

Are we talking about covering the whole bumper? I think someone on youtube just had their PPF shop do just the top lip of the bumper so it doesn't get damaged when things get dragged in and out.

If you can do ppf for the whole bumper in 20 minutes, you're better than the pros. That is if you can buy the whole bumper ppf for $20.

A 100sqft roll is $75.
