I have a 2025 R1S (lease). Back before I was comfortable driving the thing, I backed into a small metal sign. That sign put a 4 inch slice into the bumper cover. None of the sensors were damaged, there's hardly any denting, it's simply a gash/slice. Regardless, to save some money, I'm hoping I can swap the bumper cover myself, if I can get a certified OEM shop to order the part for me. I haven't received an estimate yet for replacing a bumper cover, nor for the bumper cover part itself.
Does anyone have any insight into this process? Cost for a bumper cover swap, and/or for the part itself? Do the OEM bumper covers for these require painting etc? From what I can tell, they all appear to be the same color, that off-black/gray. How difficult is it to unplug the existing sensor wiring harness, and swap it to the new bumper cover? Would a simple swap like that require any sort of re-calibration?
Any insight/recommendations/thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
