my Rivian has been in a certified auto body shop going on +4 weeks since ordering parts (7 weeks if you count the time getting aligned with insurance) Is this normal? I reached out to the shop and they said they are still waiting on a few trim pieces but have begun to paint the rest.

The certified shop I've used wouldn't take my R1T in for repairs until the parts they thought they'd need for the repair had been shipped to them, but if they found something after the teardown, that would delay the whole process.

I don't know if your delay is "normal" but it definitely isn't a rare occurrence.

Commonly known parts supply is scarce and not free flowing at times. Listen to what RJ have said and repeated in the last 6 months regarding supply chain challenges. Each supplier for a part has their own number of suppliers and those suppliers each have their own number of suppliers... sub components and raw materials. Some of them are not domestic and impacted by the flip-flopping tariffs. Growing pains + unstable business climate. Maybe once R2 production starts and that supplier park they've added at Normal will improve parts supply.

You found the curse of the 3rd party repair shop!! I had the same issue as you and ran out of my 30 days of rental coverage before my car was done. The bodyshop / Rivian ate a little of my extended rental usage, because the bodyshop couldn't figure out how to calibrate the door back to the vehicle after it was removed and reinstalled. I told them to transport my car to the service center, so Rivian could recalibrate it, but they said they could do it and wasted a week going back and forth with Rivian. I will say, they did do a very good job, just took a while to get the parts once they disassembled everything.
