I am a baby boomer, and I grew up on stick shifts. My first 3 cars were all manual transmission. So I am a hard-wired
right foot braker.
While the 2023.34.00 update was a great help, I am having a bit of a time adjusting to quickly moving my right foot from
the break to the accelerator pedal in order to maintain speed and not begin hard braking from the strong regen setting.
If I could get another 1/2 second to move my foot, I would be very satisfied, and a lot more comfortable.

Anyone have a tip that would allow this, or have your own work-around?

Not entirely sure I understand the question, but try turning off cruise control by pressing up on the stalk - rather than tapping the brake. This will allow you to have your foot already over the accelerator pedal when coming off CC and more closely maintain your speed.

Is that the issue you're having?

Yes it is, and I was not sure that pushing up on the stalk would do that, or put me into reverse
somehow. Thanks for the suggestion, and I will try it the next time I am on the road.

Wouldn't "right foot brake" be the normal way? I was a manual-transmission-only person until getting EVs, decades of two-foot driving, and the left was always only the clutch, the right always switched from accelerator to brake.

If you're on cruise control, just hover your foot over the accelerator as you're disabling it to apply some accelerator to counter the regenerative braking.

Edit: I see you replied as I was commenting. Yes, use the stalk to cancel. Just a "half-press" will do it with zero risk of going into reverse. That said, I have tested, and even a full-upward-hold won't put it in reverse unless you're going VERY slow. There is zero risk of putting it in reverse above 10 MPH. (I haven't tested the exact cutoff when it's willing to go into reverse, it's below 10, though; I tried 5 and 10; 5 it would, rather jerkily; 10 it wouldn't.)

Pushing up one detent on the right stalk will disable the cruise...I use it multiple times per day. Any day I have to use the brake pedal for the friction brakes feels like I've screwed up...high regen for life. I sometimes will put my foot back on the throttle first and increase application until it just starts to accelerate slightly before flicking up to disable cruise just so I don't slow down at all.

Seems like this question has been answered - to disengage, lightly tap the shifter stalk up half the distance you would for reverse.

More importantly, left-foot braking is almost exclusively a racing thing. Rest assured almost all of your constituents on the road are using their right foot to brake/accelerate.

I recall an effort when I was in high school to get us to use left foot braking.
This was the mid sixties and automatic transmissions were becoming the new standard.

Also to above, before disengaging cruise with the stalk, you can start engaging the pedal until the cruise circle with the speed goes from filled blue to just the blue circle signifying that you are overpowering cruise. Then you'll avoid all regen.
I still miss coasting ?

Not coasting is a challenge for me also.

If you're used to manuals, then treat this like engine braking in a low gear. Just don't lift fully to decel. If you're referring to coming off cruise control, then press up on the stalk to cancel cruise while moving.

Get used to driving without using the brake. If you set it to high Regen and just soft adjustments with the "gas" I literally NEVER use the actual brake...

Takes some practice, but you can build the new habit. I promise I NEVER use the brake pedal in normal driving, the gas pedal is super sensitive and gives you great control alone.

Have only used the brakrs for a few hard stops (light changed quick, etc)
