Oh man… seems so obvious I can’t believe I had not thought of it. Cool stuff.

Q4 2025 at the earliest Motor Trend says. LOL
Would seriously consider a Rivian R1V if it were available and not $150k+ like these upfitted Sprinter vans go for.

That van would be cool, but SO expensive. Even if it had a less fancy suspension vs an R1T I could imagine that being over $150k easy.

When I picked up my truck the dude giving me the tour hinted that the EDVs would be available to the public at some point for just this use case.

So not exactly in line w/ the motortrend article but definitely in the same vein.

I love the concept of this van!!! IMHO, in an effort to keep costs down, I‘d like to see Rivian eliminate a lot of the foo-foo, la-dee-da, luxo vehicle accouterments seen in the R1’s. Instead, use rugged, durable, washable, breathable materials for seats, headliners, door panels, flooring, etc. - no Vegan leather, please. Eliminate a lot of the showcase stuff like moonroofs, phone charging pads, powered A/C vents, and you-name-it. With the right materials, you don’t need heated/cooled seats, for instance. I live where it gets plenty warm in the summer and plenty cold in the winter. Because of the material used in the rugged seats in my FJ, I have never once felt a need for heated/cooled seats. Ya got leather seats, well that’s a different story. Unlike the R1’s, that admirably aim to be the everything vehicles, I’d like to see the van be less family hauler/drag racer/luxury vehicle, and more a serious, uncompromised hit the trail/road and live in/get dirty in vehicle. Anyway, that’s my wish list and I’m stickin’ to it.

Rivian needs to market a version of this vehicle to adventure tour operators who use offroad capable vehicles - eco friendly and lower operating costs.

Yeah I’m not going without heated seats or a heated steering wheel if I can help it, having had both those things. Fantastic even on cool days(what you’d call cold in Nevada“, invaluable when it’s -40

I lived in the very northern tip of Maine for a year. And, yeah, in the winter, it got deep into the negative temp territory, -20 and below, plus wind. While it doesn’t get that cold where I live in Nevada, low 20’s, teens, even single digit temps are common in the winter, even rarely dropping down to the zero range. To some those may just be cool days, but, to me, it seems plenty cold enough. Honestly, when I lived in Maine, I would have considered a 20 degree winter day a heat wave ?
