Sorry, nobody knows. Probably not even Rivian at this point. Ask again in 3-5 years.

Watch for any news about a factory in Europe. I think their main focus is on ramp up in the US/Canada, but they will expand across the pond. They said “near term” expansion to Europe around their IPO. My random guess would be 2024 timeframe.

Davy,

Salut / Hallo! Vee gheluk finding anything conclusive in the near future. I doubt the R1 series will be available there, but I'm guessing nobody outside of the company knows when even that will be decided. I think the best bet is that a more compact series of R2 or R3 vehicles will be the first Rivians available there.

As to any pricing, again, I'll be surprised if the R1 line gets exported to Europe, but time will tell. Should it make it later, it's pricing will almost certainly change to reflect costs and market conditions at that time.

By the way, I see you're new to this Forum. I don't know if you've been lurking for long, or if you just stumbled upon the site, but jump in and enjoy!

Au revoir / Nog ne ghoeien dagh,

(The answer is "No", but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. Sorry if that ad campaign doesn't resonate there) ?

Where did you get this information? We hear at the end of 2022, but without any other information
I think he was joking but 2025 seems a reasonable bet as they will need to build a factory and the service centers. I agree with you earlier point about the R2 or R1C (whatever the two row vehicle is called) being the one for European markets. The R1S could be sold but they would be a niche due to their size and cost (high sales tax).

Davy,

After poking around the Internet for a little bit, I found the following article from six weeks ago. It does indicate that perhaps in addition the seeing the Electric Delivery Van coming your way in 2022, the R1S may also be there this year. It references R2 and R3 vehicles being the volume units of passenger vehicles intended for Europe, but says the R1S is on its way there this year.

"Speaking to reuters.com in November 2020, Scaringe said that Rivian is working on smaller models that are fit for new markets. The Rivian R1S SUV and the Rivian R1T are simply too big for most countries outside North America. The company plans to launch the Rivian R1S in Europe and China anyway, in 2022. However, it expects “follow-on products” to “really drive volume” there:"

In addition to the Reuters link, there are links to Bloomberg's and MotorTrend that are also interesting. There's some info about the search for factory locations there, as well.

I'm guessing most people on this forum might caution you to temper expectations of much R1S volume arriving there this year, but it does sound like they may be available by year's end. Good luck in securing one. I'm guessing you would be in rare company should you secure one.

Good luck, Vee gheluk, Bonne chance!

Thank you for your answer, I bought a model y and 2 model 3. But for the same amount you have the rivian. I also found the article for 2022. But I wondered if they could really make this work.

You can call the thread Rivian in Europe….

I was waiting for the car for NL, but everyday I’m more sure we will never get it in Europe. Our driving license is for 3500kg, the R1S is 3150, which leave 350 kg for passengers and their equipment. Assuming 5 people each passenger can be 70kg including cargo. That’s a no go…. Not to mention the 7 passenger version: 50kg per person average…

Goodness, I just bought a Model Y and live in Chicago, and the width is unnerving in everyday driving to the extent I’m a little concerned about my R1S preorder. You must have some excellent driving precision.

Funny enough we’re in a neighborhood that was majority Belgian during its peak growth period, to the extent our church is named after a Belgian saint and a plaque on the old Belgian social hall reads ALL BELGIANS ARE EQUAL.
